I own/owned whips from all three(Bernardo,Morgan,Strain) and hands down I would choose Bernardo for price and look. To me it is far and above the most screen accurate whip on the market. I only wish he would have been making whips when I shelled out $750 for my 10' Morgan. http://render-2.snapfish.c...

whip purchase

I don't write on this site very often but I couldn't help but reply to this post. I have had the pleasure of owning (2) Joe Strains 10' and 15'...(1) David Morgan 10'...and (1) Bernardo (8'). All are great whips. Here is what I think... Morgans are by far heavier then the other two brands and consid...

Well I just got back from DM. He fixed it and didn't even charge me for it. The knot is as tight as it was when I first recieved it. I'm sorry I don't have pics...I still don't know how to put them on the sight. Maybe I'll try image shack or some thing like that. As a side note, DM told me that the ...

loose turks head knot...how to fix?

Hi everyone. I haven't written in a very long time. Now I come to you all asking for some help. My 10' DM turks head is a little loose at the bottom where it meets the wrist loop. It is so loose in fact that I can see white thread underneath the head. I would like to tighten it up myself but I don't...

I have had the pleasure of owning both whips and I have to disagree. I think that the morgan looks more the part even with a shorter handle. I think morgan's knot makes all the diference...much larger than the JS. I agree with the construction though...JS are a much tighter braid. Morgan is very loo...

It looks to me to be more of a biker jacket. Longer sleeves and buttons all over the place to help gaurd against flapping in the wind. Also, the pull tabs on the side are going the wrong direction. Should'nt they be pointing forward instead of aft?

I ordered mine a half size down (9.5 to a 9e) just like its recommended by Alden. The fit is great. The color is a nice med-brown with just a hint of red. I'll have to show pics later...my camera is on the fritz. They are pretty stiff...I hope the break in period doesn't last me long. Really a fine ...

Alden Boots have arrived!!!!

Ok everyone...My Aldens are here! I ordered them on feb. 23 and they came in today april 12. It took about six full weeks. They fit great although I'm not use to such an old fashioned, looking pair of shoes on my feet. It will be a pleasure to get used to. If anyone ordered them around the same time...

I really like Strains whips too. They are so tightly braided...much tighter than a Morgan. I used to own two of them but I ended up selling them. I prefer the look of the Morgan over the Strain...thats why I'm keeping my Morgan. I might consider an 8 footer from Strain, custom raiders, but I really ...

I certainly didn't say he was the one and only...I'm new to the COW scene and didn't realize that there were so many whip artists who specialize in replicating Indy whips. I doubt you will ever find a brand new Morgan cheaper than what his prices are. He is at the top of his game as far as getting the prices he wants for his whips. I'm sure that when he stops making whips altogether or d..s  , his whips will be worth even more $$$$. But the bright side is that mo...

I see that the website still lists the price at $635.00. Maybe the catalog is a type error. Or maybe they haven't updated the site yet. I wonder why roo skin is so expensive? I thought that in Aus., roos were nothing more then pesky oversized rats and that farmers and large land owners were more tha...

Morgan 10 footer $$$$$

I just recieved the new DM catalog and I can't believe that his 10' Indy is now at $700.00 retail!!! I bought mine when it was in the low $600s! Pretty soon these whips will go for $1,000.00. It's madness!

Factory, factory owned, whatever...the point is that they are dependent on being supplied from the factory and they told me they would just have to wait their turn like everyone else. The bottom line is nobody is getting their shoes before the 12 week delay unless you have crazy feet or something.

My opinion of Morgan vs Strain

I've owned some nice whips. I used to have two joe strains (10' & 12'), and I currently own a DM 10'. My opinion is that joe strain makes a tighter braid with a fast a fluid action. DMs braid is not as tight but with a much wider cut of leather. DM looks more like an Indy whip but the joe strain...

Right on the surface. For example, if I snagged it with my fingernail it would leave the smallest white spot as if some of the brown dye had not gone deep enough through the skin. It is hardly noticeable and I'm not the type worrying about keeping my gear pristine, except the whip!

How different is the DM whip today from the ones used in Raiders? When I talked to Morgan, he said that the whips back then were made of calfskin because of an embargo on roo. Other then that, what are the visual differences?
