Removing Bound Edge

Hey guys,

Just ordered a new Fedora, Akubra Whippet, and it comes with a bound edge. Was wondering if it was possible to remove that or if it will leave holes around the brim because I like the unbound look.

Cheers,

Steve

I was planning on getting a TAG belt, but unfortunately he has come into so trouble and is no longer offering the goods. A shame! I hope things get better.

If you're going to spend two hundred, you might as well through in an extra eighty and get the real deal. Just my opinion though.

With my bags, I cut the stitching on the original bagstrap so that, aesthetically and structurally speaking, it is still intact should someone in the future wish to re-attach it. If you do remove the strap, I recommend doing it that way, it is simple to restitch it just as it was, but on a small lev...

A friend from Sweden gave me this wallet when he came to visit me in the States, it has an older, indy-esque feel to it. "The Monte" is imprinted in the bottom right corner: http://public.fotki.com/stainlessteve/adventures/

Actually guys, I've got a couple of other pics to show off, and I guess I will let the anonymity slide and not tell my agent. Again, you won't recognize me anyway because I am not in film.

Hahaha, yes, CIA! No, I am in showbiz (no one you would ever recognize if you saw) and it's not a good idea for me to through my face around the www. Besides, I'm really not that good looking, you aren't missing out on much, lol. as for the hat, you think I should give it a dimensional cut? I don't ...

My experimental hat...I can't get rid of the taper!

I'm going to try to include a link so you guys can see this hat. I bought it in Sydney, reshaped it the best I could and stuck a saltwater croc band on it.

Well, initially I was thinking of a suit vest, because as Nevada Jones so eloquently stated, they seem to be in short supply and I like so much of the older fashion clothing lines. I wish we all still wore Fedora's! However, it wouldn't be too bad to have a nice adventuring vest as well, for those w...

Thanks so much Texas! I own a Keppler strap as well, and I have to admit, I really prefer yours (Nothing against Lee's). I'll try the Kiwi; it isn't so bad that it would merit the time to send it and have to go through the hassle, but I genuinely appreciate the offer! I tried to post a comment on yo...

Texas Jones Bag Strap Question

I recently purchased the bag strap from Texas Jones, and man is it nice! The leather is a bit stiff at first, but is easily broken in and the color is.........errrrrrr.......was dead on. I made the mistake of spraying some cologne on my shirt while it was on and the only thing I can figure is that t...

You are definately going to want to go with the dark khaki. I own a pair and any lighter would look silly with the rest of the gear. This is, of course, my opinion. Just thought I'd through it out there for you.

Rick, you definately right on this one. I saw "The Croc" model they had. It may very well be that it was a different model used in the film, this is just what an Australian Hattery told me. Beside the hat they displayed a picture of the croc man himself, and it was that photo that convince...

Haha, actually Akubra sells a model called "The Croc" which is supposedly the hat Paul Hogan wore in the film. I have seen the Coobery Pedy's, nice looking hat but I have to agree with you on the band. That kangaroo plate must be awesome. I would post pics, but I truly have no idea how to ...

My Own Version of an Adventurer's Hat

I was in Australia last summer, (yes went to Katoomba, but no time to visit the Hattery), where I picked up a fedora. It is an Akubra Leisuretime and is a charcoal color. I took the original band off and replaced it with the belly of a saltwater croc and then brought the front pinch in a bit to make...

What is the most accurate bag strap out there?

Just curious as to what the general consensus was about the most screen accurate bagstrap out there. Also, I am considering getting the Texas Action Gear belt and whip holder, but can't decide. How accurate are these items? Thanks you guys!

I flew from Michigan to San Francisco. Of course, that was on my way to Australia. My flight got delayed by chance, and I took it upon myself to explore the city, where I luckily stumbled upon the Alden shop and got myself a pair!!!
