A Vest.........
Do any of you know of a vest that is kind of, indy-esque? I'm not sure why, but the thought has been intriguing me as of late...

Call me old fashioned, but I too like the suit with a vest look. When I bought a few new suits last year it was very difficult to find them with vests. I took the rather drastic step of having two custom made, cut from the same cloth as my suits. I don't recommend this however because the cost for two custom vests was exorbitant.
What I should have done and what I recommend you do is check out Ralph Lauren's line. His suits are on the pricey side, around $800+, but since Mr. Lauren is an Anglophile he copies older style English suits and one can generally find three piece suits in his collections.
Good luck!

Well, initially I was thinking of a suit vest, because as Nevada Jones so eloquently stated, they seem to be in short supply and I like so much of the older fashion clothing lines. I wish we all still wore Fedora's! However, it wouldn't be too bad to have a nice adventuring vest as well, for those warm weather days...

Interesting comments Rick...I too, have several 'photo-travel-type' vests and they do look good with Fedoras. Also have a great (black) motorcycle vest that is perfect w/gray 'Indy's', etc. I have often thought of asking Peter/Jerry at Wested to make me an 'Indy Vest' (distressed)...just have never done it. Hey Stainless,
Check out Orvis.com. They might just have exactly what you're looking for. Click on the link below:

Viola!

P.S. I think I might "need" one or two myself!

If you want a made-to-measure Scottish tartan vest, goto:
http://www.burnetts-struth.com/gents.html
If you check out their (extensive) list of tartans ( http://www.burnetts-struth.com/reiver.html ) you'll find some Irish tartans as well as some solid colors.
Another good source for MTM vests is mycustomtailors
http://www.mycustomtailor.com/
They offer vests starting at $65 as well as 3-piece suits starting at $220. What you do is go through the various offerings they have or you could send them a photo of a vest or suit you like and have them copy it. You need to take your measurements, which shouldn't be that intimidating if you've been shopping on Ebay for a while.
If Indy is ever in a 3-piece suit and you could get a photo, you could send the photo and have them make up that suit for you. Caution, you may have some difficulty finding the matching material.

I've posted this before in another thread, but I will say that I really like this vest:
You can get one from the Sierra Trading Post:

As soon as I find a good Indyish vest, I plan on making them available on my site. I've exhausted my online searches, so it's off to the Trade Shows!

Lambskin Munitions Waistcoat
(thanks to Baggers for pointing out the new fall line-up here)
You saved me the trouble of posting it. Thanks, Mojave!Mojave Jack wrote:(thanks to Baggers for pointing out the new fall line-up
Actually, this (technically I suppose you could call it a jerkin, after the original item referenced in the ad copy) is the closest thing in an "adventure vest" that I've found so far. There's a retail store close to me and I'm very tempted to drop in and order one. It's very tempting.
Cheers!
