Thanks IB, However, MK seems to be having the same trouble that I am with his lambskin: The fix I prescribed is for stiff collars.....like goat. My new Wested lamb has the Elvis/John Travolta problem too. I wish the collar had more body. I am working on it. I will report back on what happens. I seem...

Re: What is this leather?
This pic is what I am looking for in the way of appearance: http://www.indygear.com/gear/images/patterson_wested1.jpg This touches on a problem that I have been having. Look at the photo referenced above. You can see that the two collar points hang differently. In the photo, the point on the side o...

Just curious, Michaelson, Do you think that that's the difference between a vegetable or a chrome tanned hide? I seem to remember Peter posting here that the test for chrome is whether it will repel water. I know that it isn't a substitute for applying a weatherproofing, but it may be the difference...

Hi Rick, I also have a horsehide jacket, although it's new. When I first got it, the jacket just repelled both the standard dressing and the jell. I then dosed a rag with the shoe oil and rubbed the jacket down with that a few times. It seemed to open the jacket up to further applications of the jel...

I'd be happy with that cuff, even without the strap. Also see this cuff, on Aero's Highwayman jacket: http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/images/heavyFQhorse-large.jpg I like the slanted look, but even straight across would be a nice look, too. I just think that a cuff finishes off a jacket. But ther...

Re: PBB is at it again!
Anyway, I got the usual $21.18 bill and paid it. Trying to recall the details of when I got my bill (I'm getting old, it was only a month ago): This amount breaks down into $13.68 (estimated) for U.S. Customs, and $7.50 for PBB. Furthermore, they state that the Customs fee is your responsibility no...

Re: Thoughts on Wested predistressed cow?
The most glaring mods I have in mind would be to replace the patch pockets with slash pockets (bye-bye, flaps), and add wrist straps (similar to the side straps) so the cuffs can be cinched tighter when needed.
