Re: Dying a Bullwhip?
Here's the problem with dying a whip after the fact, especially a new one; you have grease on and in the leather which will affect how well the leather absorbs the dye, and you also usually have one or more coats of shellac on top of the leather. Now shellac can probably be removed with alcohol or a...

The hat, on the other hand, can STILL attract comments. YES! I too have found this to be true. Most people today (sadly) do not realize Indy's hat, while certainly iconic in its profile, is still essentially a kind of hat many men wore during that period, and they simply call it the Indiana Jones h...

Fine. Be my guest. Good luck. EDIT: Here's the thing, it's one thing for a kid to go out and climb a tree or a mountain for that matter; that falls under parental guidance. Here we go again! Do not swing from a whip. Period. It's likely to damage your whip, if not break it in two, and you run a very real risk of injury. I now you just saw Adam do exactly what I'm saying don't do, BUT you have to keep in mind a few things: 1-Adam IS a whipmaker at the start, so he reall...

Re: question for all indiana jones whip makers
If you mean the swell near the end of the handle, then this is a function of the whip being made out of leather which you can duplicate with nylon, but is almost par for the course when making an Indy whip out of leather. The first layer over the large nail that serves as the foundation for the hand...

I want to get back to the noodle look of the Raiders whip for a moment and share some thoughts on this. A few observations on the Hero jacket after having worn it quite a bit this summer and fall. The side straps are way too long! Thanks for your input guys! I really appreciate it! I used to wear a XXL (two years ago), but these days I normally fit in a Large if the cut isn't too tight over the chest. My first concern is are you really ready to drop? If you drop too soon you will get into trouble. Dropping strands is done when the core has become too small for the number of strands you are presently using, not before. Was the plaiting becoming crowded before you dropped or was it normal? My secon...

Re: Bullwhips!
Length of handle (visible or not) has nothing to do with the wet noodle effect. This happens to whips that are poorly constructed from the inside out. Meaning a whip with no belly (ies) and little to no reinforcement in the transition zone. One could argue that a longer handle produces more of a lev...
