Thanks Dr. Woolley! I'll make note of that for next year. And I will as always be sporting one of my lids.

Re: More Hats than you could shake a stick at

I'm now a little sad that my day to go to the pumpkin festival was a bust. I live in southern Ohio and I'm known as the guy that wears the hat.

Deadwood was the inspiration for the color contrast with the ribbon.

Re: So, I've been thinking about this a lot...

Thank you Strider for starting this thread. I have been contemplating getting a custom made hat and have been debating if I'd "baby" it. I love my fed and wear it almost every day. I don't want to put the money in a custom and then not wear it.

Paper clips on the sweatband and a cord of some sort will work. I used to sell hats and some of our customers would do that instead of poking holes and running cord through the hat.

we probably should seriously think about cutting a brim a bit. I agree and have yet to grab the scissors! s7eng,please don't take this the wrong way but I have to agree with Raider, your hat looks way too big..it looks like you've just killed Goliath and pinched his hat as a trophy! Not taken the wr...

My problem when shaping hats is that even though the hat may be utterly untapered (or even with a reverse taper!) to begin with, when I put that top crease in, it pulls the sides in and tapers the hat. No matter what I do. I've been dealing with the same problem with my Reg Fed. I'm going to try th...

He grew a mullet! Maybe when it falls out he will be able to wear it again. He did have some nice pics taken with it before he regrew the hair. Of course we all ribbed him about it at the time. Nice picture of him and his wife over the mantle in a hat he can no longer wear (and paid a pretty penny f...

I had a friend who had a custom hat made and he made the mistake of getting a very short (burr style) haircut right befor the fitting. He then dicided to let his hair grow out and then the hat never fit agian. So my 2 cents is measure your head with the most hair you will have. When I get a fresh cu...

I worked in a store that sold Stetson hats back around 95. I didn't like how the Stetson hats looked. To me they were not close enough. I even had a customer come in with his Wool DP and I didn't like the looks of it either. So my quest eventually led me here and now I have my Akubra Fed. I’m glad I...

To me it looks gray. I understand the argument for brown (i.e. only one hat), but for years I have thought in those sceens it looks gray.

I've gotten Cowboy, Amish, Indiana Jones and just recently Johnny Depp (probably due to him sporting a fedora). The best are nice hat and nice lid.

I would try PERMETHRIN before I'd try a deet product. I've used it on clothing and have not seen any ill effects.
