Scientific Hatmaking.......

Post by Fedora »

Sharpetoyes just gave me a link to buy this book. Written in 1919, it is very informative as well as charming. I already had a copy, made by someone I would sooner forget, but these here are bound editions and at 10 bucks, a huge bargain!!! This book is full of valuable info, if you wear hats, and tinker with them. I highly recommend it. Even if you are not into hatmaking, you will get a kick out of the arcane writing. Recommended reading. Fedorahttp://www.ivarose.com/inc/sdetail/4901

P.S. Mr. Penman, I hereby offer you my first copy of this book. I know you are interested in hatmaking. Let me know, and I will send it you ya.

I got my book from the same run as Steve.

Good book. Its really interesting to see all the chemicals that were used, and how cheap things were back then. :) A great deal for 10$. I paid quite a bit more for it.

Jup, got a copy from the same source as you Steve, but a bound version is too good not to have. Mine shipped yesterday  It's the best book on vintage hat making I've read to date.

Marc

I HIGHLY recommend this book! I, too, have a copy of the "other run" and have found it quite the resource. And at 10 bucks for a fully bound copy?! Don't pass this one up, folks!

Looks like the demand you guys have created caused them to raise the price to 19.95. I should have acted sooner. Ahh well it is still worth buying

It really is a great book and a great reference. I'm still happy with my spiral bound edition, though.

What looks like a bound version, is also a spiral bound edition, Bink. Only the pages are larger and snow white.

Yeah, I know. The "edition" I have comes from an infamous source, but the pages are all the same. I'm sure the current edition is a much nicer and better presented edition than what I have, but I guess I'm hapy enough with what's already on my bookshelf.

Sale over.

Hi Folks. I just recently learned about and joined this forum and just spotted this thread.

I was Sharptoys source for the link to this book. I had read about this book while doing archive searches in the Fedora Lounge and was motivated to track down a copy. There had been a lot of interest in this book on the FL but it was noted to be very hard to find and expensive.

I posted in the Fedora Lounge that I had found a source for a new bound enhanced copy of the original book and as luck would have it it was on sale for 1/2 price ($10) through all of November. I posted a link to it and bought a copy also - great book. And it arrived in less than a week.

Unfortunately for those who didn't get a copy in November the price went back up to $20 in December. Still worth it in my opinion!
