Re: USW "Featherweight" jacket
For me, I would say that it's a matter of durability and comfort. I'm simply partial to G&B's lining because it's (for me) a nice balance of both. I've found USW to be a little less durable and at times of higher Temps, less comfortable. But that's just my humble opinion...

Re: USW "Featherweight" jacket
I've owned quite a few USW indy jackets over the years and have to agree that the lining was one of the reasons I would end up parting with it. That's no to say I hated it but I personally found it to be not would I would have picked if the option existed. I was always partial to G&B's lining ov...

I'm glad to hear that it's wearable in the Orlando area cause' that's where I'm moving to. Also, having owned the Todd's, if this one is close in weight, then I can hardly wait until it gets here. I've had the "Legend" model before in steer but regrettably parted with it. So I know we'll h...

Re: USW "Featherweight" jacket
That does help. I did have a curiosity about what temps this jacket would be good in. I live in Virginia and things are just now warming up and I make frequent trips to Florida and it sounds like it would be a good choice for a cool evening in either state. Most of my activities are rather pedestria...

USW "Featherweight" jacket
Okay, so I pulled the trigger on a lambskin featherweight jacket. Over the course of time I've owned all kinds of indy jackets in all kinds of hides. But nevr any that were billed as featherweight, so this is a first for me. Can anyone give me a hint as to what to expect? How featherweight is "...

Hey all! I got my first Federation a few months back and was glad to finally get it out and about last night. However, when I got in my car I took it off and laid it on the back seat just seconds before my wife chose that EXACT spot to SIT  She crushed my pride and joy flat!!!! then when I an...

I have a rather dumb question. I recently just bought a Fed 4 and put an initial bash in it. I did it just cold, with no water or steam. It was okay but I wanted something slightly more "Raiders" So I misted it slightly and put a tighter pinch. Not bad but I wanted a little more raiders fl...

Re: cleaning cotton lining
I've hung it outside to see what happens. In times past, I have been known to turn a jacket inside out and give the lining a good rinse under the shower head. I suppose I'm kinda hesitant as this lining is 100% cotton and the leather horse. Which I have no experience with.

I've actually just inherited this one. It's a HH A-2 that's in great shape except for the smell. It's rather "musty". There are no stains to the lining but I did locate some dog hairs. I can't say it smells like dog, but just trying it on was kinda offensive.

Here's where I'm at thus far. I think I'm 95% satisfied with the crown. I made the center crease tighter and lowered the side dents a touch. I have switched to using a very light mist of cold water as opposed to the steam and found that it seems to be a little bit easier to "mold" the hat....

As far as climates, there's hot and humid most of the time and then during the summer there's hotter than the blazes of hades. That about covers it. Texan you do have a good point and reason to consider holding on to the jackets that I presently own. The A-1 from flightjacket.com is simply awesome!

For me it would not be an Indy jacket. In my opinion the perfect jacket is the A-1. I love this thing! it has a very cool button up front and turtle neck collar. I have always wanted this precursor to the A-2 but as of yet it remains just out of reach. To me this is my "Holy Grail".

I had a Wested years ago that was in lamb and it fit poorly as it was a 48r and I'm a 46r. I first tried soaking it in a tub of room temp water and letting it air dry with little results. Once I placed the jacket in warm water (not hot) and tossed it in the dryer on low it shrunk almost one size. I ...
