I need to comment here, since the jacket arrived this evening.

This is not only my first Indy Jacket, it is my first serious leather garment. Never even had a bomber jacket in the 80's. Officially it's my first purchase from USWings as well, though techinically I requested one of their safari/bush jackets in poplin cotton a few years ago and got it for Christmas.

The price of this amazing jacket is extraordinary, the leather is incredible and far above any Wilsons leather I ever laid eyes on (my only real exposure to leather, aside from this forum) and the customer service?
Look, when you buy a piece of clothing, an heirloom like this, at the price I bought it, there is literally no logical reason to go above and beyond that. The jacket was like a gift in and of itself, yet sitting there in the box was a ballcap with USWings logo embroidered on it and a quality web belt in khaki.

Things just to say "thank you for your patronage", items easily over 20 bucks in value, just tossed in as a show of appreciation. I felt like I was being congratulated and welcomed.

Sarge, thank you. To your staff and your suppliers, thank you. Michaelson, IndyDawg, your words and efforts helped me find this jacket and allowed me to do business with this fellow veteran and this great businessman.
Thanks to the time and dedication of everyone mentioned, I'll likely have to buy my wife a fleece-lined bomber in the next few years, and we will gladly be turning to the Sarge and his team for that purchase.
In a time of economic hardship and uncertainty, this sort of generous and open-handed dealing is a real treasure.

I am ###### proud to be a USWings customer.

UPS requires a signature. I won't be home.
I'm going to try and leave a note saying leave it anyway.

and what are they suppose to do with that signature note on the door?

they probably have documents with them you need to sign. are they suppose to copy your signature and pretend it is yours? that wont happen b/c its forgery and is illegal.

A signature is required, means any person living in the home, who is over the age of 18, may
sign for the package. This is proof that it was not only delivered, but delivered to the correct address.

To leave a note on the door for the delivery person, stating they may leave the package there, with no one
signing for it, means that the person who delivered it is not responsible if the package is lost or stolen.
They just leave it there for you, and mark down that it was delivered. Just like any other item you
get delivered to your home that does NOT require a signature.

Its not forgery, nor is it illegal. People do it all the time that can't be home to sign for a package.
The delivery person is not going to copy your signature and forge it. Its a simple note stating to
just leave the package on the doorstep.

For peope who don't have stay at home spouses, or children over 18 that don't work or go to school,
or people who don't work from home, what are they supposed to do? You can't sit around all day and
wait to sign for a package. You'd loose your job! I can see it now. Yeah, uh, boss, I have to stay
home today because my Indy jacket might come, and I might have to sign for it...

Without your note stating the delivery person may leave the package, UPS will leave a note on your door
stating they tried to make delivery, but could not, and they will make a second attempt at a more specific
time in a day or two. This is clearly stated on their note to you.

If the second attempt goes undelivered, you then have the option of going to the UPS building where
the packages are distributed from and picking it up in person. But that could be FAR away from your home,
and by the time you get home from work, see their note, and drive to the UPS facility, its going to be closed.

All of this information is available online. Just google it to see how it works.

Normally, its not a problem. And even the UPS note they leave for you has an area
on it where you can sign it, and stick it to your door. It advises them they can leave the
package on your doorstep when they make their second attempt at delivery.

Now, if you live in a bad area, or an apartment complex, I would think people would be
smart enough NOT to want to leave an expensive leather jacket sitting around for
anyone to just come along and take it.

Use your brain and it usually works out for the best...

I also added a thread with pics of me wearing it here:

because I'd really like to know how just more experienced than me think it looks on me in terms of size.

A little hostile aren't you?
It's weird that you would assume something THEN post a response to your own assumption.

blue, I didn't think Holt was being hostile, he was just being matter of fact. Perhaps he doesn't deal with UPS over there.

What Holt probably doesn't know is it is actually a pretty common practice to leave a note for the UPS delievery guy telling him to leave a package at the door. In fact, that is official UPS policy that if you leave a note for the driver on delivery day, he WILL leave the package.

you know appart from it really looking like an LC jacket with the snaps and skin. I think it really reminds of the jacket stuntman Terry Leonard wears too. the collar is spot on so does the skin seem to be. I think without the snaps and a size smaller then what you normally wear you'd be pretty set wih a Terry jacket. anyways, at first clance, this is an LC jacket no doubt.

Not to derail, but not necessarily. It may depend on the value of the item or how it's processed. I know I tried it with a Sideshow PF or two…with a driver who will usually leave any item, sig needed or not (as we're pretty rural), and they couldn't based on its value or something claimed by the sender. But I did leave it with a note to deliver it to my neighbor who would sign. That they would do.

Back on topic…Kudos on the jackets folks. They do look niiiiice.

This is very true.

If your UPS person is a good one, you can also ask to have the package placed at the BACK door, if you have one, so that
it is out of the prying eyes of your neighbors.

He will even put plastic around stuff if its raining so it does not get wet. He's a great UPS person, and I am lucky
to have him as the delivery person in my area.

FYI.. UPS and USW, I wish we did not have to have all our shipments sign for.. Major pain and cost to USW.. The bad news is that most folks know what is in the box.. that is the bad guys do!!.. A leather jacket is the same as cash and that is a fact. When ordering just let us know you want to wave the Sig.

We will work with you!!

Just picked up my jacket from the post office. It is awesome.

The fit is on the looser side, as I expected, but not too big. Thank you Sarge and Dawg for your good advice! I guess I am in between sizes, so better to err on larger side.

This is a great jacket. I will be selling several jackets in the near future, as it would seem that I have no reason to wear them now! What a steal for 200 bucks! I am amazed.

Just got mine and I love it. I'll snap some pics at home. As soon as I put it on, it just felt...different. I've had a G&B, Wested, Todd's, and another USW, but this felt different than any of those. It is so amazingly comfortable right out of the box that it feels like a jacket I've had for ten years. Great jacket, great price. Thanks again, Sarge!

Just wanted to add my review of the jacket to the discussion.

Price: Unbeatable for the quality

Construction: Seems to be very well made, although there is one bad wandering stitch where the collar meets the collar stand, but is not visible

Leather Quality: Excellent. Might be my favorite leather that I have ever handled. It is really soft, but feels very substantial, and has terrific variation of texture, which I really like.

Color: Perfect. A really rich shade of brown. I have been looking for the right color brown Indy jacket for a long time (Dark brown Wested- too dark, Authentic brown Wested- too bland and grayish, Roo-hide Wings- too russet). The Antique cowhide is a great color. I love it.

Pattern: Definitely for a loose fit, which could be nice for layering. The storm flap and pockets seem a bit off center, which is pretty much an optical illusion (this has been discussed before). The collar stand is a bit too wide for my taste. The arm holes are wider than I would like. The inside pocket is also a little too low. I'm being very nit-picky here. I really do like the snaps on the storm flap. Also the length doesn't bother me at all, and seems quite natural.

I would say this is a close approximation of the Crystal Skulls jacket, and worth every penny. I can't wait to wear it all the time this fall and winter.

Cheers

I haven't had a chance to take pictures, but I have my Naked Cowhide Hero jacket. I had to do some collar shaping, but otherwise, it's a beauty! The fit is right-on, just like my first US Wings jacket was. I am very happy.

Perhaps we should start a new show-off thread, given the size of this one and all it's twisting and turning? Objections?
