Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Same here! I believe this is the longer production set up I can ever recall on a Wings project to date. Should be interesting!

Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
I'm chomping at the bit, myself, to be honest. The prototype was a really nice jacket and I think it will look terrific in the lamb Wings offers. It's a continual battle for me on when to check on updates. On the one hand, I want to know how close we're getting, but I don't want to pester the powers that be too much either. Hopefully, it won't be long now.
Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Let them take their time on these I'd say. Probably only works in favor of those wanting a good jacket. Maybe after the first week of March would be a good time to check in.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Its good to hear this project is still in the works and that they are investing so much time into it. I guess they have to seeing as how Wested's Temple jackets have sold so well, not that that is the only reason or even a major reason. I've been looking into getting another Indy jacket and this one fits the bill. Hopefully I'll have the funds whenever this jacket is finally in production.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Ulloa, my understanding is they only plan to make 100 of these (at this point) as that was the minimum number required for such an order. I don't think USW has too much concern about Wested, but who knows. But if this new jacket turns out nice and sells well, it would be great if USW keeps it in production and offers it in other leather in the future.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Well, I was really looking into a goat jacket but I really like this one. If Wings kept the run going after the 100 and introduced different hides, that would be great.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
It really would be fantastic if they would morph their current offering with some of the refinements on the prototype such as the slim cut, the stormflap/collar connection and the back panel/arm seam extension.... If they did, they would have an absolute winner IMHO.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Looks good Holt. Pity it isn't in goat. I'd even think about this over the Wested ToD because the Wings quality seems consistant. I understand the lamb is pretty heavy and strong too is that correct?
Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Good news! I talked with the production manager today and Wings is ready to start taking orders on the TofD jacket. The ordering system for us is the same as with the new Flag Label A2/G1 line they're unveiling.
Email your name, email address, phone number, and jacket size (remember that Wings uses S, M, L, etc. [they have a sizing chart on their website to help you determine your size]) to info@uswings.com. The price quoted to me when I began the project was $300 and I've not been informed of any change, so I'm assuming that price is still correct.
Photos of the prototype (which was in their vintage cowhide) and of the antique lamb the production model will be made in are on the first page of this thread.
I've already got my order in.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
i just sent them an email, looks like a i may have to hold off on my wested order
Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Email sent. I really want a lamb jacket and if the fit of these is a bit slimmer than the normal USW's it should be great.
Re: Wings Temple of Doom prototype
Is it safe to assume that these sizes run small? (according to their sizing chart)

Is it safe to assume that these sizes run small? (according to their sizing chart)
There normal sizing tends runs big.
A Wings size small is equivalent to a Wested size 38, a medium is equivalent to a
Wested size 42, a size large is equivalent to a Wested size 46, and a size X-large is
equivalent to a Wested size 50.
Just about all the Wings offerings are an oversized loose fit since they do not
offer numbered sizes such as 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50... ext. Since they basically only offer
4 sizes of jackets, S, M, L, XL, each jacket has to be on the larger side in order to fit a wider
range of people in each size versus getting an exact fit by using the regular numbered
sizes like a suit jacket, or a Wested or Flight Suits.
Make sure you know your size, and what will fit you PRIOR to ordering your jacket! If
you are between their sizes, like say a size 40, then you will have to deside if you want a jacket
that is slightly too big (a Wings size medium), or slightly too small (a Wings size small).

Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
Just to stick my head in the door, understand that FLATHEAD is making the assumption they ARE using their standard sizing chart. If they are, his advice is sound, but if they are not, you may get something that will not fit. The best thing to do is to ASK when you contact them with your information. Don't assume anything.
We now return you to our regularily scheduled programming, already in progress.....

Very sage advise there.but if they are not, you may get something that will not fit. The best thing to do is to ASK when you contact them with your information. Don't assume anything.
Always know what will fit you before you order. The only bad part about asking Wings about
their jackets is that the people you talk to on the phone don't normally know the answers to
your questions about sizing. They tend to just repeat whats on the website, and don't know
how the jackets are made, how the garment measurements run, or whether or not a numbered
size is equivalent to one of their standard sizes.
I would send Sarge an e-mail about this, and get it straight from the horses mouth.
Like Michaelson said, don't "assume" anything.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
I would also suggest talking to them (or discuss sizing in your email if you have questions) as the ToD jacket should be a bit more tapered than their other offerings.
Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
I'm waiting to hear back from the email I sent last night.
Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
Anyone heard any sizing info from wings yet?

Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
Ditto........sent email yesterday AM
Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
I got an email back from them after I sent my order in. I'd just call them and make sure that your email made it through and discuss sizing with them while you have them on the line. They're very nice to talk with (and believe me I've tested their patience calling with update questions on this jacket ).

I'm still waiting on the email i sent them 2 days ago...

I have one, although it was one of their clearance imports a couple of years back. I don't know how the leather compares to their current, US-made ones.Browncoat wrote: Any one have the US Wings Indy in antique lamb? I wonder how it looks after the newness is gone.
Here it is, new, then a few months later. Only thing that happened to it was a soaking.

How much do you wear it , love the way it's distressed especially around the collar........

Gets worn almost daily for 7/12 months of the year. I don't abuse it, but don't baby it either. Gets thrown on a chair at the end of the day.

That is one fantastic looking leather!

What's so ironic is a lot of them were returned BECAUSE the leather looked like that.

I believe so. There's some wear on the elbow where it almost looks like it was sanded down. I think just from driving and resting my elbow on the center console. The rest looks about like the pics above.bigrex wrote:Does your lamb still look like the photo taken a few months later?

I would be nice to to get a confirmation, but I'll just wait.ortiz344 wrote: I dont know but...i think thats pretty LAZY...

Looks good! I love how the pocket flaps took on a better shape AFTER the water treatment.
Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
Isn't that Palton's old "pull when wet" routine? I did it to my wested LC. It works okay but looks like it's been stretched and not cut that way to me.Browncoat wrote:Looks good! I love how the pocket flaps took on a better shape AFTER the water treatment.

You've just got to pull horizontally to even the wrinkles out a bit.CM wrote:Isn't that Palton's old "pull when wet" routine? I did it to my wested LC. It works okay but looks like it's been stretched and not cut that way to me.

Yes, I did pull on it to stretch. And the wrinkles are gone now, but the shape remains.Yojimbo Jones wrote:You've just got to pull horizontally to even the wrinkles out a bit.CM wrote:Isn't that Palton's old "pull when wet" routine? But back on topic... Any news on the new jacket?
Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
you dont mind waiting 3 weeks to get a REPLY to an email?Hatch wrote:Not really, he said it'd be 2-3 wks till ready to ship and would email and get payment info then........ortiz344 wrote:I dont know but...i think thats pretty LAZY...Hatch wrote:...and should get a reply to email in "2-3" weeks
I think 3 days is virtually unacceptable for a prospective customer...

Yes, a simple confirmation would be nice to know if they got the email and it didn't get bounced into the SPAM folder. But I'm just going to wait and when people start hearing I'll worry then if I haven't yet.

Re: Wings Temple of Doom jacket--now in production
Joke? Why would I joke about that, ortiz344 ? Did you see a smilie attached to my post?
Folks DO get a simple confirmation on first contact. The '3 weeks to email' was attached to the shipment confirmation post above. It had nothing to do with initial contact.
If you haven't received an intitial confirmation, you best suspect they didn't get your original email in the first place. They pride themselves on immediate response.
Raider, if an email got bounced into a spam folder and they didn't receive it, how can they let YOU know if THEY don't know?
That reminds me of an old IT guru we used to have at the Univerisity who actually sent out an email to all staff and faculty that said, to paraphase, 'This is a test email of the new university mail server. If you did NOT receive this email, please let me know just as soon as possible so we can make corrections to the server encoder to include you in the next test. If you HAVE received this email, you need do nothing.'
