Re: How do you deal with waiting on a jacket?

Jacket looks great dude!!! Great color!!! Thanks! I think the color is really good too. I don't think the pictures on their site do the hide justice. I kinda hate that this first experience was so good, because now I know that parting with my money will be relatively painless and the p...

Re: How do you deal with waiting on a jacket?

The wait is over my friends! My jacket has arrived. It's soft, light, and fits great! My only concern is how thin it feels in comparison to my motorcycle jacket. I'm nervous it won't last. People keep telling me goat is really strong. I guess I'm gonna have to trust them, because my only other leath...

No my experiment was done back when there was only one type. I suppose I could try this new fabric version for everyone and see how it works.

I had to stop that. It made me start second guessing my all ready over-thought decisions on material, length, chest size, etc.

Re: NeverWet™ Could this be the answer?

No worries. I was too curious to not try it out. I was sort of expecting the film, but the added crunchy feeling was a big surprise. It's better it was on my old shoes than people's nice hats. ^_^

How do you deal with waiting on a jacket?

I placed an order with Wested for my first Indy jacket a week ago, and the suspense is killing me. I can't wait for it to get here! How do you all contain the excitement over a new jacket until it arrives?

Or have you all ordered so many that the excitement is long gone? :D

Re: NeverWet™ Could this be the answer?

I know this thread is old and I'm sure most everyone knows by now, but just in case here's a PSA on NeverWet. Do not use this stuff! It will absolutely make your items liquid proof, but you will be left with a chalky white film and the fabric will be hard/crunchy to the touch. I've tried it on a che...

Thanks guys! I can't wait to get it in. I hope it fits well. Also the second I see how it fits I'm gonna place an order for that cloth Indy too! I'm hoping this doesn't become too big of a habit.

Re: Any experience with Wested Horsehide?

Okay I placed my order. I went with goat. My wife said the thought of horse leather made her sad. So I went with the goat and remembered to keep my mouth shut about my motorcycle jacket already being made from horse. :-$ I wonder what she'd say about kangaroo leather? Anyway thank you all for...

Re: Wested Lambtouch LC

I don't know for sure but the sleeves may be longer due to the the bigger chest. Because the shoulders of Indy jackets hang off instead of rest on the shoulder like a regular coat that extra length could be from the extra chest room causing it to slouch off the shoulder even more. That's just my gue...

I'm 6'3 but my torso is pretty long. Jackets that I really like the fit on are about 27-28 inches long.

Re: Any experience with Wested Horsehide?

Also does anyone know if I order a 26 inch back length on my Hero Jacket is it going to be 26 inches at the base or will it be longer? Wested hasn't answered either of my emails. Help would be tremendously appreciated.

Re: Any experience with Wested Horsehide?

Thanks! Between Michaelson's and your comments, since I do want to wear it as much as possible I guess I should go with goat since it's lighter but still strong. I know my motorcycle jacket gets miserable when it's warmer here in Georgia. Now, I guess I just gotta get these measurements down. I wish...

Re: Hm.. where to get good priced Aldens??

Very true, but if they don't get as dark as you want them to be, or aren't getting there fast enough, helping them along is easy. There's a great tutorial on antiquing shoes on the hanger project website. They're using it in a dress shoe context but the principles apply. You'd probably just darken a...

Ya, it will make a good ROTLA jacket. I just specifically mentioned LC because it has that reddish undertone. :TOH: Kyle Thanks! One more question: I've been reading through the forums and it seems like in the past the HH might have been too thick and was popping stitches. Is that still an issue? B...

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with how quickly natural leather darkens. Those boots are going to just look better and better as time goes on.

Trouser Abuse.

Are any of these companies creating Indy trousers making them robust? Could they take some abuse from the great outdoors, or are they just for show?

Re: Hm.. where to get good priced Aldens??

If you don't mind them not being Alden proper, then you can try one of J. Crew's sales. They don't often do it, but usually around the Christmas shopping season they will offer 25-30% off third party merchandise. That'll bring them back down around $350. It still isn't cheap but it saves about $150....

Any experience with Wested Horsehide?

I've just found out about this forum and I'm trying to buy my first Indy jacket and want something that will last forever, age well, and not be tremendously stiff. Does anyone have any thoughts on Wested horsehide? Is it stiff? Is it a good color for an Indy? I know it's generally strong, but the ho...
