I've had my cowhide TOD now for over 2 years. My only regret is that I didn't get a distressed version, because the thing is so tough it'll never really naturally distress. Even though my cowhide was tough, I also wanted a 'bullet proof' version so: - goatskin - handwarmer pockets sewn shut Its goin...

I voted no, just to be different. :) Although the Raiders and ToD do have very different collars - I actually greatly prefer the ToD style collar. And as to the length...well Wested make a lot of jackets and they don't seem to worry about getting length right to the millimeter. My Raiders and ToD ar...

The kangaroo is the largest land animal native to Australia so it was a logical choice. I think roo is used primarily as part of the tradition more than anything. Australia has been primarily a beef eating nation for 200 years, as is America....which may be why we're right behind America in t...

However... I'm still not sure about the leather type. I'm getting a ToD. Here's the situation: I'm going to Greece this summer and I want to take it with me and wear it without the jacket cooking me alive... if ever this is possible with 40°C. Anyway, I need to take a jacket with me, so why not a W...

I've also had my dark brown cowhide for 6 months. I wish the thing would wear in more. I percarded (is that a word :D ) heavily when I first got it. I've worn it 6 months straight, with no caution or care, thrown it on the couch/floor/chairs and left it in a heap when I'm not wearing it - and it sti...

I wouldn't get gussets this time. They may be useful in other jackets but unless they are big enough they don't really do anything useful - as I believe is the case with the ones Wested installed in my jacket... If I ordered another jacket I'd get goatskin for something different. I love my cowhide ...

I think it should be an option NOT to put it in there, just for those who like to have as much authenticity as possible. I had it put in mine (thanks Peter!) and it works great. I think (I could be wrong), the average customer would much rather have it in there instead of trying to figure out why th...

I only know Peter didn't charge me for elastic in the action pleats. Gussets: Do they really do anything ?
Hi all, Am interested in getting peoples thoughts here. I've been wearing my cowhide ToD for about a month and a half now and I don't believe the gussets do anything at all. Maybe the 'jaggerlips style' does more, or maybe its the way Wested construct them (I know Peters opinon is a well made jacket...

The goatskin is supposed to be lighter and thinner than the cowhide. Its also stronger. Cowhide is still very strong, but heavier and thicker - so much warmer. (which is why I went with the cowhide) I don't think there would ever be an issue between predistressed cowhide and normal cowhide in regard...

I think my suspicions may have been confirmed. My mother used to do her own clothes making many years ago and I asked her about the extra front length. Actually, if we want to look at what Indy's jacket WOULD have been made out of, you must consider the time it is supposed to be taking place. If indeed, it is the late 1930's to early 1940's, then his jacket would probably be made from Horsehide. I've never worn a horsehide jacket. Are they heavier...

I could understand if someone wanted a flightsuit jacket over a Wested. If you've got the money, they are apparently super high quality. But why a US Wings ? I don't understand this. Dan - No it doesn't make any difference where you get it sent to.. The jacket was to be sent to my home address.
