An old chestnut......jacket sleeve ride-up question

Post by ob1al »

With my etc., or at least I have never noticed it, yet my new cowhide does seem to suffer from this problem despite the arms being the same length. Is the due to the heavier less flexible leather of the cow and the fact that the lamb will 'stretch' around elbows more easily?

The arm length, when my arms are at my sides, is perfect, coming down to the first knuckle on my thumb as prescribed and hanging at the exact same position as Fords jacket in Raiders. Yet with arms outstretched, the cuffs ride up my arm by around 2.5 - 3".

I wondered if any other cowhide owners had experienced this?

Regards

Al

I don't have a lambskin to compare, but when I drive, the sleeves on my cowhide do ride up a bit. I think it would be because of the thicker leather, like you stated.

Any other thoughts on this?

Does anyone know if different sleeve lengths were used in the movies?

Personally i think the "ride-up sleeves" look tougher. lol. In Last Crusade, when Indy is hanging from the tank, and climbing the cliff after jumping off the tank (presumably) the sleeve is way up, lik3 4 inches, the entire shirt cuff is visible. And it looks mighty tough

just my 1.9 cents

ob1al -

I'm experiencing the same thing as you but don't think its a problem really.

With my arms down by my side the sleeves come to the knuckle of my thumb. I think this is too long, and am hoping (as I've read here) that over time they will creep up a bit.

When driving they are fine.
