Re: New Alden 405 quality?

I bought my alden 405 about a year ago now and I am very pleased with them. I've worn them around the world and they still look pretty much new. They've been through snow in toronto, rain in Venice, the heat and sand of Athens and not to mention the cobbles of Paris and London. These boots are still...

i have the liquid and the thick cream. Both are great and really help condition and weather proof shoes and jackets.

You can also use it on wood! i used it to seal a small chair that i had. Looks like a put a coat of varnish on it.

Nice looking boots. I thought the natural indy boots have been available for a while now, is there anything that sets these apart from the boots offered on the shoe mart?

Alden questions.

Howdy all. I've got a few questions that I hope fellow alden owners can help out with. Firstly I've noticed that my pinkie toe has started to strech out the leather. Has anyone else notice this happening to their boots? Should I be worried about the boots eventually wearing thin in that area? Also I...

Re: Shorty, where's my razor?!

I usually just use warm water. Sort of a in between best of both worlds.

From there I just swirl the brush on the soap in the bowl for a bit and then face lather. I haven't had any issues with lather and always get a good shave.

Shorty, where's my razor?!

Cold Water?!?!?!? What kind of freak are you?!?!? :Dietrich: :rolling: I know, right? Funny thing is, the reason I shave with cold water is from "Good Morning, Vietnam". During one of the DJ's (not Cronauer) broadcasts he mentions to avoid razor burn, shave with cold water. Regard...

Shorty, where's my razor?!

Come on! Indy shaves with a straight razor. He doesn't need to carry anything extra. Just a small leather strip to strop the razor. Or he could just use his jacket. As for the soap and brush, a small shave stick and brush are easy to carry and no bigger than a pill bottle. A small sample of what ind...

Indy boots!

So excited. Just picked up a pair of the Alden 403. These were the last boots in my size so I was very lucky. Now to just treat them with some Pecards and they are good to go. One question though. I have both the cream and dressing. Which would be better to use on the boots. Here's a pic of the beau...

The 12 foot i think will get some more cracking time this year. I still haven't fully broken it in ans its been almost two years since i got it.

The 7 foot was my first whip and was great to learn on. The plaiting isnt quite as tight as joes but still a wonderfull whip.
