It's definitely a Brigg. Brigg umbrellas carry the royal warrant stating that they are the sole purveyors to HRM, The Queen. It's the gold band you see down near the handle in the photo. I travelled to London around this time last year, and picked myself up a Brigg. It was certainly an expensive sou...

THE REAL ORIGINS OF THE WESTED JACKET
There have been a lot of rumors floating around recently about the origins of the Wested jacket, and I think it's time someone set the record straight. As a close personal friend of Peter Botwright (I've known his father since childhood), I can attest to all the facts. When Lucasfilm originally conc...

Sounds like a wonderful experience. Have a great time! Oh yeah, don't drink or eat ANYTHING while in Africa, or you're bound to get some horrible, evil parasitic disease like cholera, Guinea worm, bilharzia, hepatitis A or the old standby, diarrhea. And of course there's the ones transmitted by inse...

Problem with a whip?
A couple of years ago I purchased a whip on eBay which looks suspiciously like a DM whip. It's very well constructed, and in nice condition. However, I've noticed that where the main body of the whip enters the handle, that it feels as if something has broken inside, as it bends what seems to me way...

UPDATE: I've just been handed my mail, and in it was the December issue of our NAWCC Bulletin . On the front page of 'The Mart', the bulletin sale paper is the very watch that started this string. Apparently the NAWCC has no problems with it either. Nice looking watch too. To which watch are you re...

I would hazard a guess that , for the most part, a $200 watch will run as well as a Rolex if you take care of it. The primary difference is really mostly in the quality of finishing (guilloche dial as opposed to stamped, polished pieces as opposed to rough, solid gold vs plated). There are features ...

This really has me wondering. There was an ad in Sunday's New York Times (All the News That Fits Our Slant) for exactly the same watch, only it purports to be a replica of a 1922 Stauer. I've never heard of Stauer or Steinhausen, but the watch looks identical. The ad claims only 7 were produced in ...

Did you buy your watch off of ebay from some people in Ohio? I have one almost identical to yours except it has the other style band. It ran great when I first got it, but after a few weeks it started acting up. I took it to a watchmaker and he repaired the winding stem (some screw rusted out), but...

Wonderful watches! Where did you find the replica? The one I got off ebay is definitely an original movement, with a hallmarked silver case.. I have some doubts about the dial, as it appears to be almost too nice for its age, just one small chip between the 4 and 5. Still, it makes me happy, and tha...

What's the deal with all these companies charging fees for customs and stuff? When I received my jacket via the good ol' US Postal Service, I don't remember paying anything extra. You know, I'm surprised that after all these years, there still isn't an options chart saying what options to specify to get a screen accurate jacket for each film. Dad's Umbrella
After recently returning from a trip to England, I can confidently identify the umbrella that Sean Connera carries around with him as a Swaine Adney Brigg. They're considered the top of the line in unbrellas, and they don't ccome cheap.. a silk umbrella like they used in the film could easily set yo...

I'm not a scientist or anything (nor a lion tamer...), but my thought is that UV light is probably just as harmful to leather as our own skin.... UV is harmful to skin because it causes cellular breakdown. This is also why it destroys mildew and such.. strong UV light will literally break up DNA. T...

I wouldn't doubt it. I was out cracking whips last weekend and saw the biggest mosquitoes ever! They were as wide as a quarter. I could see their face! X-O odor remover is your best bet:
http://www.justrite.com/x-o.htm
Unfortunately, you're going to need to soak the leather. But since it's ruined anyway, it's your only option. That smell will never go away otherwise.![Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/Indy_cry.gif)

Be aware that while acohol is a very mild solvent, acetone is heavy duty stuff. It'll dissolve most plastics, and is quite toxic. I'm not sure what it might do to the leather, if anything, but be careful when applying it. Take off your watch and such. Also, no matter what you use, it probably wouldn...

Welcome to Club Obi-Wan! Your wait for the Wested should soon be over (unless he's unusually busy), but trust me, it's worth the wait. Regardless of your reasons for ordering a Wested jacket, it's a great article of clothing, and a good deal, even with import duties. Make sure you order some Pecards...

I just found that my local Costco is carrying the Wells Lamont grip gloves, three pairs for $20. That's about 1/2-1/3 of what I've seen them for elsewhere.

Indiana Jones IV Jackets
Production on Indy IV should be starting soon, so someone, somewhere will need to be supplying Harrison Ford with some new jackets. Any idea who will be doing this? Could it be Peter Botwright over at Wested? I'd be curious to find out who is doing the production, and if they can give any word on wh...

I carry a Webley myself... but never in public. We've got farily liberal gun laws around here (Colorado), but that's just asking for trouble. I used to carry a 9MM pistol in my car, but it made for quite a bit of hassle the few times I had contact with the police. I never got into any trouble, becau...
