My new toy!

O.K. Well, it's definitely NOT a toy, but it's not exactly deadly either. It's a replica MP-40 Schmeisser blowback from the Marushin Co. of Japan. It's fully auto and blows off caps and blanks. It's a gift and I have to wait a month to get it in the yard to fire it but I've always wanted one and now I finally have it. Another month won't kill me. I lost a bid on Ebay a while back on a screen used Raiders rubber MP-40 and when I saw this recently I knew I had to have it. I got a kick out of reading the recent thread on the break-in at a members house where he toted an unloaded pistol to check on a robber. Now THIS would be something I would grab if I couldn't get to my shotgun. Yes, I know it only fires blanks but I'm sure an unknowing home invader who hears this baby going off at full blast won't stop to think whether what he hears is real or fake. They'd just run. In an enclosed area like a residential home, even blanks are louder than he!!, and at full auto it would sound pretty scary to a home intruder. I'm sure only one thing would be on his mind: Get out as fast as I can.

Very nice!

I realize it's a gift, but any idea where it came from and how much it was?

Hey, is it hunting season yet? Al-Qaeda hunting season?

I bet it even has that gun-oil smell. I bet it has Action that once pulled it would cause any bad guy to make Yellow River outtah there.

That does look awesome. But if you don't mind correcting you... Gun's are NOT toys. Kids need to know the diffrence between the two. [Since becoming a dad, I've become over sensitve to that issue.]

That is awesome! I have always wanted to get an MP40, either a real one or a replica. In my mind, the MP40 completes Indy's LC look. I don't know why because he only used it for a few seconds, but it just goes with the Webley, tie, and other LC gear. How much did you pay for it and where did you get it from? Thanks for sharing.

I got it from Ebay for $300. It came with 10 shells and a box of 100 caps. The shells are incredibly excpensive, though. I still want a full clip or 2 to burn out. I thought this was my best bet since I saw a real MP40 sell for over $1200 and I can have fun with this anyways. I just want it to complete a Nazi soldiers gear. Soon it will all be on a mannequin next to Indy. Yes, I'm on a mission.

Blanks for my Webley Replica were like 10 dollars for a HALF Moon Clip! :? It's best to just pull the trigger and make the sounds with your mouth... :D

EXCELLENT find Agent 5! It's beautiful! I've got to get me one of those! I found a guy at a gun show with a whole arsenal of WWII guns, he had about 3 of those, some amazing Tommy Guns, and my favorite, the B.A.R.! Congratulations, enjoy your new 'toy' ;) :D

Cool. I have a Marushin blowback .45 auto pistol that I bought years ago. I didn't know they could still sell them in the US.

Only problem with mine was that the frame was made of 'unbreakable' ABS plastic, which cracked within the first few times firing it.

That was the .45 I had in my holster when Omaha's finest pulled me over one Halloween. It took a considerable amount of talking to convince them that it wasn't a real gun. Finally I had to unscrew one of the bullets and show them the cap inside. They were so bewildered they just let me go.

As I recall, not only are the caps terribly expensive, but the maintenance is very involved too. After each firing, each 'bullet' has to be taken apart, soaked in water, and then cleaned with a special brush to avoid cap residue buildup. Still, it's the next best thing to a real gun, and better than a real gun if you have kids around your house.
