I have an oil-finished leather Akubra Outback that I wear when it's really raining...the water just beads up and runs off. Not very Indyish, but perfect for rainy weather. I bought a relatively inexpensive authentic straw Panama (from Ecuador) to wear in the summer and while I'm waiting on my AB. I ...

The good guy always wears a white hat?

I've been mulling over the fact that Indy wears a dark hat while Belloq wears a white hat. I'm trying to think if there's any significance to that. I mean, was Spielberg trying to say something with that? Or was it just the fact that the brown hat looked better with the brown jacket? Storytellers so...

Unfortunately, it's a very natural motion to grab it by the crown, but I guess you need to be very careful to be gentle when grabbing the pinch. The thing is, when you've got a hat in one hand and something else in the other, how do you put the thing on without grabbing the pinch?!? Yours in a pinch...

Official brim width?

Ok, I apologize ahead of time...I can't get search to work for me, or I'm impatient, or.....

Is there an official brim width? As I wait (very patiently :D ) for my AB, I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about fedoras.....

Somebody recently posted a link to a National Geographic video that showed Harrison Ford flying some of their photogs around. In some of the shots you can see that he's wearing....dare I say it...an earring!

So where does that leave us?

I wouldn't sweat the M1917 thing if I were you. As I understand it, Indy's wasn't an M1917 anyway, it was a Hand Ejector Model II. ( I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! ) But the HEII and the M1917 are almost dead ringers for each other so, personally, I don't think it's important ...
