Re: Modified Raiders/LC Bashed Akubra Fed IV Deluxe

Well done! If you're really feeling ambitious, you could remove the tack stitches from the ribbon and re-stitch them (one at a time) with matching dark brown thread, and you can adjust the bow and knot shape while you are at it. Since you already removed the lining, you might as well give it a try....

How stiff does this one feel? I just recently acquired an Akubra (non Indy style) at a flea market for a song and dance(see my thread in beaver felt). It's pretty stiff but mine is more of a western style.

i like the liners but not wild about the plastic. Here's what I do. 1. Remove the liner. 2. Take pair of scissors, start a whole and cut along the stitching. 3. Remove the plastic, then pull the perforated end along the stitching on the backside. Great way to remove the plastic and keep the liner a...

Seeking Advice on Fed IV Deluxe sizing

I ordered a Fed IV Deluxe from The Hattery, down under. Arrived very quickly. Great color. Very nice. I just took it out of the box, and it fell down on my ears. There was a foam strip wrapped around the outside ribbon in the box. I trimmed a bit of it off, and it actually fits inside the leather he...

I would always suggest putting in the center crease in first then anything else. Once in place make sure in the front the center crease is at 4 1/2 inches and around 4" in the back depending on the brand. Then lightly put in the front punch. Then each side one by one. Tweaking as you go. The b...
