A man is entitled to a little R and R!
The hat looks awesome, by the way!
I can't wait for the day mine arrives. :D

Does look awesome.

By the way, how long does it take you to finish one hat?

Is this a Career change?

Post by Kilgour Trout »

It's probably a bit off topic to ask but Is this a Career Change Steve?
It would be awfully temping to be able to do what you love but then often people say that the moment you make a hobby a career a lot of feelings change. :?
I've seen it happen with "Car Gear heads" who "once they pick up a wrench as a career" lose their love of cars. They end up not caring if the car they fixed was a 69 Chevelle or a 98 Neon.

I know I'm probably off the mark, but I'd just hate to see you lose the love you have for each one of your creations. "And that's what makes the difference" between an Adventurebuilt and Biltmore. If you know what I mean.. :notworthy:

Warm Regards

I think I will always enjoy seeing the transformation from a raw piece of felt to the finished product. But, years from now, I am sure, it won't be the kick that it is now. But, I got a few years left before it becomes a job and not a hobby. regards, Fedora

Thanks guys. A few have pm'ed me about how much this hat looks like the Cairo hat. It is just a hat off of my new blocks and worn in the rain a few times to make it look weathered. It also developed the reverse taper somewhat as the soft felt sorta settled downward. I think part of the key to the Cairo look is to wear the hat. I like it too, and seem to always grab it when I am headed out the door. Oh, the brim on this one is 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 !!! Funny how the perspective of the photo makes it look larger than it is. regards, Fedora

That's not naptime. It is strategic planning time.

Great pix, Fedora! A photo of you working on a hat would be cool for your www.adventurebilt.com website. And the napping one would be good to put on your contact page. ;)
