What's the word on the Aldens right now?

Bags, Boots, Shirts and all other gear should be discussed here.

What's the word on the Aldens right now?

Post by Liberance »

This may be the year I get a proper pair of Indy boots.

However it's the one gear item I haven't really researched all that much, as they are expensive (particularly if you're not US-based) and I didn't think I'd really wear them. For the longest time, I just had a couple of Todds replicas. As time passed though, I think I may finally be old enough to pull them off.

I know there's the whole controversy about the color. Do they really look that off if ordered today? Wouldn't that be just a matter of aging? My David Morgan looks radically different today than back when I got it, as usual with leather.

Anyway, happy to hear any suggestions, tips or whatever comes to mind from current owners.

I’d recommend getting a used pair from eBay, it’d be a lot cheaper and you would actually, know what you’re getting. I’ve had a friend complain about quality control in a few pairs that he bought directly from Alden.

Alden is not what they used to be. At ~$700 bucks, its a hard sell.

I’ve had a pair of Magnoli Clothier Adventure Boots since 2009 and they are still going strong. And I was able to get the exact color I wanted and customization of no speed hooks (I don’t like them).

Jeez, 702 bucks now. I’m glad I bought mine years ago. Even then, I thought the $468 I paid was steep.

The customization options are the icing on the cake.

I love my Alden’s. I got them a couple years ago but have a 403 in reddish brown and 405s(Indy style) in a special light/medium brown that looked good to me. They are both really similar styles.

This is where I got mine and he’s about to do another batch of the special saddle tan leather https://www.ealdwineraleigh.com/alden-p ... eposit-200

I'm thinking of buying https://www.luosjiet.com/products/india ... 4931022143
Does anyone know how it is with size on the luosjiet indy boots? I'm size 46 eu size so I'm not sure if I should go with 45.5 or 46.

I'm wondering about the sizing as well. I'm mostly 45 or 45.5 EU. My Todd's costumes Indy boots from 2012 are size 11 US. My old Nikes were 11.5 US or 45 EU and my current Adidas trainers are 11 US and 45 EU...

The sizing is so confusing. The best solution is when the shoe seller use the insole sizing in mm or cm. My typical insole is 29,5 cm / 11.6 inch. But luosjiet does not use this type of sizing :-k

Ok, anyone have any recent Aldens? Mine are SHOT! The sole is 3/4 hanging off of one now... I am extremely hesitant to use their resole service after my last experience... has anyone had that done recently?
