Alcohol removes shine effectively without abrading the skin. Start with a low percentage and go easy. Titrate up if needed. Condition the lamb afterwards. Alcohol will dry it out pretty badly.
That's what I have always used. Some people have used acetone as well, but I think that is way to harsh for lamb.

I tried this first as it seemed the friendliest for the leather- but used the handheld shower wand. They must put a coat of shellac on this stuff because the water beaded off of it for a while, then it started getting wet. I didn’t thoroughly soak it, though, and wore it the rest of the day.
That small amount of wetting worked wonders for it. Wrinkles in the arms and a LOT of the sheen is gone!
