I bought this one:

And the buttons I was referring to were these ones that Hollowpond recommended:

As for sizing, I ordered a size M, which is my regular size. Some of the reviews encourage you to order a size up from what you do normally - which I initially did - but the sweater was much too baggy and didn't layer well. I returned the Large and got a Medium and it fits great! I did also notice a difference in the make of the two (not sure if it had to do with the size or just the luck of the draw) but the L had unfinished buttonholes (just a hole cut in the fabric) while the M had properly finished buttonholes. I saw the unfinished buttonholes comment come up in another review, so I can testify that it does happen, but it doesn't
always happen. PLUS! If you have a seamstress, that's a easy fix for a pro I imagine.
My question regarding replacing the buttons is that the current buttons are large and flat. The 'accurate' buttons look much thicker. So, in order to fit through the existing buttonholes, should I order a size smaller? (Less diameter, but more thickness, equals fits the same buttonhole?)
I am still considering replacing the buttons, but I'm not sure what size to get so I'm stuck. Anyone have any guidance?
Can't wait to see your sweater when it's ready, Croft!
