I'm new here with my vintage Indy leather jacket

Post by Tinplatejeff »

I'm new here. I attended C2E2 con in Chicago back in March and decided to cosplay as Indiana Jones. I had decided to cosplay as Indy before the announcement about the 5th movie and was super excited when the news broke. I have an Indy Jacket and Hat from 25 years ago that I dug out of the closet. I was amazed how well they fit and how comfortable they still were. At C2E2 I was surprised to find a group of Indy cosplayers there and got to stand in front of their Ark for pictures! It was truly thrilling. I've decided to go all in and get additional gear. I recently purchased a Mk VI bag from What Price Glory, a web belt in Raiders brown from Todd's, and just ordered Azuma's Imdy shirt. Note, my jacket has a broken zipper pull and it's at a local shop for repair now.

Well, unfortunately you've now fallen into a crowd of Indy gearheads, so abandon all hope.......for your wallet. :BD:

 Welcome to the madness! We're glad you're here, and that's one classic jacket!

Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure who the Ark belonged other than it was from the Indiana Jones Fan Club group of Chicago.

Any members on COW here?

Great jacket! I remember seeing those at Disney when I was a teen and wanting one so badly. Heck, I still want one, but maybe less for the jacket and more for the cool label... :#:

By the way, that vintage jacket (if acquired at Disney) was made by Cooper.....now USWings.

I can't remember for sure where I bought it.

It was possibly at Walt Disney World or maybe Boeing gift shop in Seattle?

The jacket has a label that says made in Pakistan.

I was at Disney World this year during C2E2 but I did have the Ark there last year. It hasn't seen the light of day since DragonCon 2006.

Hello and welcome. I joined some months ago and it's a wealth of the most detailed information here. I have found it both fascinating and at times bewildering, but it's a friendly and helpful bunch.
That's a fine looking jacket you've got there. I've been saving for my first one. In fact, I think I may take the plunge today. So far I have gained the satchel, shirt, boots and trousers. All the best in your collecting :TOH:

Yes they did in the past around 07/08 and IMO, they were not the best ones made on the market.

If you got it in 90, then it's a USWings, as Wings took over Cooper in 85.

OK! Thanks for the info.

Also, got the zipper repaired for US$8.56 by my local leather and shoe repair store.
