Actually, the monochrome pic of Indy is most likely a movie still. Even though Indy's pose differs slightly from the pic we all know, keep in mind still photographers shoot not only one frame but often vast quantities of film. It may well be that this particular image was lifted off a cheap movie brochure, which are still popular in many countries. There seems to be distortion, especially if you look at the hat, but that could be due to manipulation. They may have "squeezed" the image to fit the page. Before there was Photoshop they used Sytex or whatever it was called, and before that they had conventional ways of manipulating images.
