Can any of you suggest a good, easy-to-crack whip for a 12 year old? It should resemble an Indy whip.
Thanks in advance.

7-8 ft. i found best when i first started, it wasn't so long that your motions needed to be perfect to keep from hitting yourself,WhipDude wrote:Is that whip built like all his previous? If the quality has improved then fine. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to use a costume whip to do serious whip cracking. There's been issues with these in the past.
If they have improved ,he'd probably need longer then 4 ft. That's short and requires fast reflexes and more knowledge typically.

Rhett makes great nylon whips as well. He's also be another person to look into.
he wants it to resemble an indy whip though, the standard 7-8 ft. one herethefish wrote:Steve Huntress @ Noreast Whips. 6' nylon "Catalyst" bullwhip: $85

Great "starter," good weight, excellent balance, throws straight, ZERO maintenance, (save for popper replacement,) and will take a beating and a half.
If the kid takes to it, they might expand on their collection, but they'll never "Outgrow" this whip.
Ooops! Didn't know that...classicbullwhips wrote:Rjallan70 is not making whips anymore. Rhett Kelley now has the nylonwhips.com domain.

I usually start the kids out when they're nine or ten and have them start on my 6 ft Rhett Kelley cowwhip...I got it in 2004 for $87 shipped. I also have a 4 ft leather one from Kyle Schold (does he still chime in?) but the two handle quite differently.riku1914 wrote:http://www.cowwhips.com/order/WhipDude wrote:Yep.
