Well, I received my Legend last night (imported cowhide large long) and I have to say the thing is fantastic in ALMOST every respect. My only big complaint is that they made the jacket longer, but they didn't move the pockets down. It's literally like there's simply an extra 2 inches of jacket on the bottom. I'm not quite sure what I want to do with it yet. I may send it back, or I may take it to a tailor to remove an inch or so off the bottom, but if I cut off too much, the jacket will simply be too short. Moving the pockets lower is obviously not an option. It's just such a disappointment that US Wings, possibly the only manufacturer to offer off-the-rack long sizes could screw up such a simple concept as lowering the pockets on a long jacket. They managed to figure it out for the A-2 I ordered from them. What do you guys think? For the record, I'm about 6'3" 195 lbs.

I like the way it fits. Underneath, I'm wearing a flight suit (which has so many pockets and reinforcements, it's practically two layers anyway, and than the t-shirt under that. Even with all that, it was very comfortable and roomy. It's just the pockets that bug me. I'll probably call Myke about it on Monday. The customer service reps only know so much about future production models (and the long US made models are stil a month or more out).
And it's not just a screen accuracy thing - that's not my main interest here. Simply as a jacket, pockets at that height are odd and unfashionable.
I'm glad you have your jacket finally! At first I though it was SL but now I know it's Cow I thought they messed up!
Now to the pockets, yes they look horrible! Like Michael said to the average joe know one will know. Then there is us here at COW and sure we all have a opinion.
What to do? I would defiantly send it back. Then the fit, I think IMO you need a XL Long but that's me. Please don't take this the wrong way but it looks like your wearing your little brothers jacket. I'm 6'3" 205, 44 chest and I'm getting a XL Long. I spoke to Sarge today and asked him personally what size I should get and he said the same XL long.
I would send it back and get a SL while the price is still-$100.00 off. Sarge said today all Indy jackets he sells will go up 15% to 20% very soon.
No way I would keep that. I got a bush jacket from them that had the same problem, and it wasn't even a tall size! Call them, tell them the problem, and ask them to check their stock for one that has the pockets lower. Use measurements to be clear. If they are all that way, get your money back. That looks just plain wrong.
I have a phrase that I use as an electrician when I'm hanging new lights and one comes in with something wrong with it: "I don't fix new stuff." Send it back and get something that you're happy with. It just doesn't make sense to spend more money to get it tailored and then be even more unhappy with it.
- That fit looks oh, so right
- But those pockets look oh, so wrong
(I'm also thinking it would look REALLY awkward -and for you FEEL awkward- if you to put your hands in the hand-warmer entrances to those pockets.)
You definitely need to make Sarge & Myke aware of this situation...
I have no doubt they'll look after you.
The fit is really good... but I agree. Actually, the pockets kinda remind me of some of the modern flight jacket type higher pockets, especially with the flight suit, but for and Indy jacket, nah. Looks like a cross between regular and chest pockets on a safari shirt. I'm sure they will want to get after the shop and make sure that doesn't happen again.
Well, I would have to say that one slipped by the quality control. It can happen but I would send that back and swap it out asap. Everything else looks good but no go on the pocket placement!

And I've seen this guy pull up to summits... That ain't no lie!
Michaelson wrote:Make it unanimous. That's about the oddest placement of pockets I've ever seen on an Indy jacket.
Someone wasn't looking at the pattern right.
Call Myke/David.
Regard! Michaelson
No doubt.... I would like to have it inhand so I can see who made it.. Each Jacket is hand made and I will be able to tell what went wrong.. No big thing just write on the outside of the box 1-23 Hack return and put a note inside the box what the problem is with your name and send it back USPS.
Very simple to fix if any company knows about a problem and with COW having a friend in the business all it takes is a phone call or e-mail..
When I had my USW large long, I actually thought the straps were too low in the back and raised them 1.5". Now I see they corrected that but messed up the pockets. I'm not sure which is worse?

What I like about USW is if there is a problem it is taken care of ! But again My company like all other business answers e-mails and answers all phone calls and don't read postings on COW that often just a little FYI.. As for myself I like to get to the bottom of a problem not cause more problems ! But that is how I run my business.
After a few PMs back and forth with Sgt Hack and a few phone calls it sounds like they'll be fixing this problem soon, and I am once again anxiously (but patiently) awaiting my US Wings Legend!

What you got was a fluke, wait to you see the real deal!
I last spoke with US Wings at the end of January. They said they'd fix the problem, but it'd probably be another 2 months before they had corrected jackets in stock. I'll wait until early April to call them back since I'm not expecting any updates until then.
How high up where the pockets? I just got a large long and the pockets don't seem wrong on mine?
*edit*
Looks like I may have ended up with the same thing. Bummer as I really really like this jacket.
I also must mention that I did email US Wings to ask them about it. So far I've been impressed with the customer service and product. Everybody makes mistakes.

If you're still within the return period, I'd call them up about it. Even if you're not, it doesn't hurt to call as they are aware of the screw up. The return instructions they include in the box (also on the website) are pretty straightforward. I have been wondering what they'd do with the defect jackets. I suppose if they continued to sell them and the receiving customers don't notice/complain, they end up in good homes. I'd rather have lower pockets, myself.
I full agree with you Mark Brody. I paid for it and I want to be 100% happy. It's just a shame because this is easily already the greatest leather jacket I've owned.

Did you get an answer? I've been trying to email them since Tuesday (both Myke and the main info address) and haven't had a response yet. It's surprising because like you, I'd always been impressed with their fast, helpful customer service in the past.
I emailed Myke about with an unrelated question on Thursday and haven't heard from him either, so it may be that he's been unreachable/email issues/vacation, whatever these past couple of days.
As far as this issue at hand, I would be very disappointed if my pockets were that far off. But I guess I wouldn't be surprised if some of these were still floating around in stock and being shipped out in hopes that not everyone will be as picky. It'd be smart if they at least kept those from going out to any COW members.
So far, my experiences with USW customer service have all been positive. Don't give up
I called and got a very quick reply from a rather nice and helpful lady. From my understanding, all longs are incorrect. It will also be another 4-6 weeks until correct jackets are in.
