GREAT looking jacket (took the liberty of lifting those from you Weston :TOH: ). IF the import is going to be less a jacket than this one. Then I am perfectly willing to pony up the extra money to ensure I get a jacket of this quality.

Travis
Good question... I received my first leather Jacket in 1947 and it was a WW11 A-2 and I have been a Collector ever since.. Some collect stamps and then some collect Coins.. I happen to collect Leather Jackets and that is where the Schott family came into Play! All Roz Schott knows is how to make the best leather jacket in the world and that is all Roz Schott Great Grandfather knew.. They are the Masters in the business and have been since 1912.. My other two partners around the world have also been in the business for over 75 years.. I just happen to think Roz Schott Jackets are built like a tank.

Glad you chimed in here Sarge! So are you saying that everything, materials and all, are the same on the import? Same pattern, etc., etc.? I have heard you say the import has a facing, so I know that much is different. But what else, other than one is made in the US by Schott, and the other is made overseas?

No matter where it's made, the jacket in the pictures above are the proof! Who wouldn't want one?

Regardless of price here, I'm going with what I know. My Perfecto feels like armor. I gotta go with the U.S. jacket. I only have to buy the jacket once. I try to buy the best stuff I can afford regardless what it is. I don't want to have to wonder about it afterward.

I know U.S. Wings is going to stand behind what they sell, whatever it's country of origin.

And, Sarge is trying to provide options, I understand that. U.S. manufacturing is expensive.

I work in a union manufacturing facility, and am well paid for what I do. I gotta support that. But that ain't everybody, I know. I have no doubt the import jackets will be outstanding.

Thanks again, Sarge, for this offering. U.S. Wings has so many great choices, so just about any fan can have an outstanding Indy jacket.

I've been excited about this jacket ever since the beginning, and Weston's pictures reveal a jacket that surpasses what I expected, frankly, in terms of 'the look'. I never doubted the quality.

Hollowpond, I know exactly what you're saying. That jacket is the one I want. It's gorgeous and screems raiders. I'm amazed at how thick the leather looks. I know it's lamb and that lamb is supposed to be the weakest of leathers but that looks like it could take on the whole German army and still stand up. I'm sold. The color, the colar, the pockets... man, I'm pining for mine right now!!!!

The only reason we put a facing in the imports is ...So our shipping department can tell them apart ! I think the Imported Cow is better and then I think the Lamb Roz has is the best.. Will both of them hold up the same.. I think so ! Roz Schott makes all of My US Military Jackets and Her Family has been making US Military Jackets before WW1 and there is no other Company in the World can make that statement.
With that said I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

This jacket looks so amazing, I can't even see the zipper colour or what side the pull is on :) I wish that Schott was making the horsehide jackets! Horsehide and Schott just seem to go together. Maybe I should get two jackets...

well, they are offering Bison which I've heard is even stronger then horse.

and they also have a dark brown american cowhide which is very ineresting to me...

I would love to see either a bison or dark cowhide jacket on a person before I would give my preffered hide choice to Sarge.

thanks again Sarge :TOH:

This morning I complimented Sarge on the Striated Lamb Legend, which I think looks amazing, and asked him about the possibility of changing the jacket leather when already on the order list. Sarge encouraged me to post his reply for you all.

I think the best thing for Myke and I to do is when each and every shipment walks through our Corp. HQ to send out a e-mail and also post and even call each Fan and give them a heads up and let them have the first Decision before we contact our other customers! If Not.. some Fans will not receive theirs ! We have two major customers that will take all of the Raiders Legend jackets we can make and that is no joke!( COW Members come First)

I whole heartedly agree. A bullet proof jacket from a bullet proof factory! I hear US Wings Horsehide is fabulous but I really want a US made jacket so that makes the choice much more difficult.

So if we placed an order for Calfskin, via the form we filled out a few months back, we should still get a call/e-mail regarding changing our order? Just trying to clarify. Since calf does not seem to be an option anymore (and since it probably was not the original leather in the first place), I would change my order to the American-made Striated Lamb. There must be others in the same boat.

We should but I would call/email before waiting. Just to be on the safe side that the order is changed and confirmed.

Roz and I are still looking for the right Calfskin.. It must be 100 % or we will not make it until we find the right leather that we both like! Look how long it took for that right Striated Lamb!!

Well, it's like taking a gamble, and for me I folded. ;)

I was on the list for a Calf. We've not really seen the calf skin, but we've seen / heard loads about the lamb. The lamb looks absolutely amazing and had me practically salivating on my keyboard.

I know the Calf will be amazing as well, because Sarge has certainly delivered on the Lamb, but I emailed Myke and asked to switch anyway. The 'We covet the things we see everyday' rule overcame me. ](*,)

I'll probably get an itch to get the calf when we see it as well. ](*,)

This SL Legend is going to be available for a while isn't it? I have this fear that this particular hide is going to vanish before I can save up the "Indy Bucks" to order one for myself. :?

Has Weston done anything else beyond just wearing the jacket and breaking it in? Each time I see pics of the jacket it looks better and better.

All I've done is wear it Pitfall. I did end up in a heavy rainstorm over a week ago and kept wearing the jacket as it dried and that helped things along. Sometimes I'll knead the leather in my hands, areas like the pockets and storm flap, to help soften it up. That's all.

Hello Billy,
Roz Schott and I have been searching the world over to come up with a Calfskin we like and to this date no luck... I would think about the Lamb or Cow and or even the Bison! I am looking at My own Horse hide here in my Office and it is as soft as Calfskin and that is also a thought.... No matter what I will not give up on the Calf and will still find the leather that Roz and I both like.

Well, I have _ to thank for this one! I had other reasons as well, and though this picture may not be up to the usual standards, it shows off the effect well enough for now. I don't usually go for this kind of thing, but I went ahead and sent it through one cold water wash, and just look at the grain! I'll get a better pic up when it's dry!

Wow, is that the striated lamb? I'm assuming it is b/c of the thread the pic. is in. It's much browner looking now than in the original pics. where it has an almost black quality to it. Is that from the washing, or the different lighting being that it's inside and it looks like you used a flash?

Also, any idea when we'll get a look at the dark cowhide Legend?

Thanks, Weston!

Edit: You know, I would never do that to one of my jackets...er, my only jacket...but I have to say that it looks even more like a Raiders jacket now that you've washed it and that grain has popped.

Thanks Rick! I'll have pics of the dark cowhide up yet this weekend. This is Striated Lamb, and it's still wet in the picture. The shot is taken inside with a flash, so I'll take an updated pic of me wearing it outside when it dries.

Pretty sure you would get the same effect as long as the leather is completely saturated. A shower treatment wouldn't do the job.... My magnoli is in the washer as I type...

The price of a Leather jacket is going up and going up big time! If You can afford it buy now, Do it no matter who the vendor is! China is buying everything in sight that is not nailed down!! I understand, but I just want to make sure the Shrunken Lamb will stick around. I'm also on a major weight loss, body building tangent right now. A process which takes time. I'm not going anywhere. If I miss out on this, other jackets will come along, and buying a jacket that will be too big on three months time is silly. If I'm not meant to have a shrunken lamb jacket, c'est la vie.

That's definitely a great looking jacket!

The pic has a Halloween vibe that has me a little concerned though. Is that blood spatter on the table to the left of the jacket? :-k

Hi Weston,

It's a great jacket. Some simple questions: What size is the jacket? and what size do you normally take. Me a 42R. I am 5.11. I would apprecaite your input

How tough is this leather? I know it is thick which should make it tougher but my other lamb jacket had no where near the strength of my goatskin one.

I have a piece laying on the desk in front of me as we 'speak'.

It's surprisingly robust, in comparison to other lambskin samples I've handled to date.

Most lambskin I've handled and owned seems rubbery in texture, easy to pull in each direction. This reminds me of a nice, lightweight cowhide. Just more textured.

I'm impressed!
