So what's your ideal way?

Same here, and the jackets have there own closet in my office. I will also drape them on the back of a chair or lay them across the back of the couch if I feel I am going to be in and out of the house.Indydawg wrote:I hang them on heavy duty, wide, wooden hangers...like the suit hanger that Gert just showed....

Weird. As I noted, my heavier jackets do better on hangers. Also, I had a lambskin Wested that couldn't go NEAR a hanger, but I have 2 US Wings and a Magnoli (all some form of cowhide) hanging with no marks. So, it's not a an advantage of a Wested. I think size makes a difference, as well as hanger choice. Jackets in my size tend to be significantly wider than most hangers are made for, so only the wider, "suit hanger" types work... if they work at all. Regular size hangers (even many suit hangers) fall so short of the proper shoulder that even the right "elasticity/weight ratio" won't always help. However, there is little doubt in my mind that the exact nature of specific hide plays a role. Again, I think experimentation is key. Heck, I have to be careful about the hangers I pick for SHIRTS. It's no fun wearing XXL in a Medium World!Indiana G wrote:i agree with you strider....i don't see hanger marks on my westeds. this is because the leather's elasticity/weight ratio is not an issue. if you're stable is filled with jackets that are quite heavy and made of more pliable leather, hangers is not an option....unless you want to replace those too.
Great setup!Tundrarider wrote:

The hanger is a wooden suit hanger with a heavy towel wrapped around it to make it "cushy."![]()
When the weather's cooler and I'm wearing the jacket regularly, it ends up "roughing it' at night on the bedroom floor.
