How can you say that? You can tell nothing in that pic :P? might as well be lamb :P ?
What makes you think it is SPOT ON to cowhide?

Sorry, doesn't look like any particular hide to me - sturdy lamb, cow, kangaroo? Maybe...

The jacket is authentic brown lambskin, but I know what Holt means, it gives the impression in the photos that it is a heavier hide than lamb (as Harrison's does in some of the screenshots).

I recently had a close look at KT Templar's Wested ROTLA in cowhide and was able to feel the weight of it. I can tell you it was about three times heavier than my LC lamb.

Sorry, to correct you my friend. The jacket was my CS Proto in Novapelle Cowhide. And yes it is significantly heavier than lamb, though I do like the way it drapes even so.

Has anyone bought this jacket from Wested yet?

http://www.wested.com/new-in-last-crusa ... -105-p.asp

NEW IN Last Crusade Crystal Skull Jacket Authentic Lamb

I have an 80s cut of the rack (from India) Raiders jacket that has the typical tighter/higher armholes in the jacket, and I am wondering if this last crusade crystal skull jacket's armholes are a little looser.

Just to further the zipper debate, I believe the zipper to actually be a nickel brass zipper. It would appear silver, but once used for a bit, more of the golden hue of the brass would start to come through. Makes more sense than musical zippers.

Yes.

I still lean to a nickel for the LC jacket. Maybe HF will chime in about his ;)

Its been awhile.

Lately Ive been working on trying to find out the true length of the LC jacket. I think it is 25.5'' here's why. ( in the last picture Im not looking at the back, but the front length)
ImageImageImage

and I have been looking closer at the sidestrap placement, they actually ARE placed pretty low on the jacket. Around 3.5'' at least on the smithsonian jacket. You can see that in the first picture above.

But I kinda preffer the motorcycle 'Hero' jacket strap placement, which are higher. All in all I like the Motorcycle 'Hero' jacket way better then the smithsonian jacket.

and here is the true drape of the LC jacket, look at the sleeve. It really looks like the drape of Lambskin but alittle thicker, thats why I think the goatskin once broken in would do a good LC.

25.5" for the back might be right. Way too long for the front.

Hey Holt,
I definitely agree with you regarding the side straps being 3.5" from the bottom of the jacket. The straps on my Wested LC are 3" from the bottom of the jacket and I've always thought they looked a little too low.
It's so frustrating that there are two quite different styles of jacket in this film. #-o

So, I have been trying to take some pictures to give you an idea how close the wested LC pattern really is to the original smithsonian jacket. it really is close. closer to any other LC offering out there IMO.

But first. The specs like collar, pockets, pocket placement, backpanel, lining, etc. Are all my private specs. I want to show the 'pattern' or 'jacket cut'

In this first picture take notice at the sleeve cut/armhole. The shoulder, the collar and stormflap corner.

in this picture the image is mirror flipped.

Hatch,

I have pretty broad shoulders. I just started eating and working out again a couple months ago too... gained a little more weight in pure muscle. So my shoulders end almost by the shoulder seam.

Holt, isn't that a custom Wested, not a standard LC?

My LC is just a Raiders with snaps on the storm flap and looks little like yours or the one in the film.

PS Your recent LC there is the best looking one I have seen (in those shots, anyway).

Thanx. its the one I got last year, remember?

Its a UK made standard LC with custom mods on it. ala pockets.placement.straps.etc....

if you order a LC from wested you will get a jacket like this but without the same pockets as I have, cause these are my own specs.

its just like ordering a wested raiders, you send you own specs.to make it look SA.

Those Holt Spec Last Crusade Jacket pics look amazing, the only thing I can see is that maybe Ford's jacket is slightly roomier in the forearms, or less tapered there?

Cuffs on a CS are 6.5". It doesn't sound like much, but that one half inch makes quite a difference.
My first CS has slimmer sleeves, only 5.5". The second has the proper 6.5", and feels quite loose in comparison.
6" sounds just right for a Last Crusade jacket; baggy but not quite Crystal Skull baggy.

That's a fantastic LC jacket, Holt. I agree with you that the cut of Wested's LC/CS jacket is spot on to what we see in the LC film. How close are you to placing your order for your new LC jacket?

While that is a nice jacket Holt (nicer than I remember from the earlier pics last year), there is just something wrong with the overall build of the jacket
that just makes it wrong. The pockets are nearly at your armpits; and you couldn't raise your arm as high as Ford's without really lifting the jacket.
I imagine those armholes must be quite large indeed.
I know it's an early attempt, and I'm sure that the new jacket will correct these issues. Pocket size, shape and placement looks great though, really spot on.
Why not ask Peter for a thicker lambskin too, rather than goat, to make the upcoming jacket really accurate?
I'm not a Wested fan, obviously, but I'm interested to see how well they can work with an informed customer who knows what he wants, and is, I assume,
paying extra for a truly custom job.
I hope it turns out well, and eagerly await more news on the project.

Thanx. the armhoels are quite big as you can tell, but it doesnt bother me that much, you get used to it....

The next one will probably be with the same armholes..cause I kinda have big shoulder and big arms, so I need the room... never have payed anything extra for my mods though......

next one will be in goat or horse. not 100% acurrate of course, but I want a tough hide. I like it.

Hi Holt,

nice jacket. I was wondering, what is the main difference between your custom pockets and Wested's regular LC/CS pockets? I'm thinking of ordering a LC/CS from Wested but I'm not too crazy about the long vertical, narrow pockets and I think I prefer the more square Raiders style. I prefer big pockets (in which I can stick my hands) over small pockets, and would like them to be more square than rectangular.

I read somewhere that the normal side-entry pockets on the LC/CS are not very big and almost useless as hand-warmer pockets. Is that true?

Any info is much appreciated.

Holt,

would it be enough to just order the Raiders-style pockets on the LC/CS? Would that give me the nice look of your jacket, or did you order specifically-sized pockets of your own design?

thanks

I just done know..

but there is just somehting about the LC jacket that makes it look dark. not as a dark as the dark br but still a daker shade then auth.br.

and I have allways seen the Indy jacket as a dark jacket.so thats why I'm so torn...

the goatskin is a cross between dark and auth.

I think the reddish/orange/brown (!) undertones on the LC jacket, especially noticable where the distressing is heaviest, are very important in getting
the look right. My Wested authentic lamb and dark brown lamb both distressed to a rather dull grey colour.
My first Crystal Skull jacket from Tony in the original, lighter colour is too light for an LC, but my other jacket in the darker cowhide is much closer. It's dark, but where Tony
has lightly distressed it, shows a great red/brown colour underneath.

In regards to the LC jacket by Tony, which leather looks closer to what is seen on screen? Italian cowhide or the dark CS cowhide? I'm going off of crismans and orbs jackets, but we all know how misleading pictures can be.... :-k
