To me, it looks like the pockets fall between the two interpretations, but I've become well-versed in the last few days how photographs can distort things.
I'm sure it's been said, but on my ToD Wested, I can't even fit my hands in the sides of the front pockets...
I couldn't fit my hands into the handwarmer pockets either. On the Wings prototype, we got the pockets just a touch taller, so I could fit my hands in. So it might be a tad bit off SA but that might be a plus in this case.
Guys, I wouldn't read too much into the times you've been given. When I called a couple weeks ago I was told 30 days, IIRC. It's probably just an estimate they've been told to tell people.
EDIT: On the 18th of March I was told 30 - 60 days until the jackets would be made. That was approx. 20 days ago so the long estimate of 60 days would still leave us with another 40 or so left.
I'd also suggest that since it's a special run of only 100 jackets for COW, it probably doesn't have that high a priority rating on their 'to do' list, as opposed to their other work.
For what it's worth, I called today to place an order for this jacket and was told the smaller sizes are in production now. Apparently, they start with the smaller ones and work their way up. I was told for L or XL, it should be no more than a month. I asked about sizing too, and while I couldn't really get any measurements out of her, she stated that the sizes would only be slightly smaller than the normal offerings in the Indy jackets. I have an XL now that is roomy (but I like it for layering in the winter), so I ordered a Large. Keeping my fingers crossed, but she didn't make it seem like it'd be hard to exchange it for an XL if needed. I'm starting to like this jacket so much though, that I think a snug Large would be motivation enough to lose some weight!
I forgot to ask how many had been ordered to date, but it sounds like they aren't too close to selling out the 100 yet.
Thanks again to Holt and Crismans for working this for so long ... looking forward to it!
They seem to be behind with a few jackets. I asked on the G1 as I hadn't heard any more and it apparently may be another 30 days.
I also asked about the ToD and sizing and this is the only reply on it
The orders have been sent in for the Temple of Doom Jackets. As soon as they are completed, We will send out an email and contact everyone to process the orders.
I don't know for sure either, but I would guess that RC has it right. X number of smalls, X number of mediums and so on (perhaps skewing the numbers toward the sizes ordered most) for the 100 jackets. I believe this was the way they handled the limited run of the Blue Label jackets.
I see. My question, however, is more regarding things such as, how long are the sleeves on a Medium? The back? What range does a medium fit chest-wise?
Are we supposed to go by what their site lists for their other jackets?
Again, I'm just speculating here, but it is somewhat of an informed speculating, is that the lengths given in their sizing chart will apply to this jacket. This jacket will be more tapered than their normal offering but sleeve length, etc., should be the same.
Well I may be tight financially for a a couple weeks, but it will be worth it. What would I end up doing with the mone anyway? Probably just spend it on a couple small things over a couple weeks anyway. Now I have one thing that I will love, not like, Holt. Thanks for helping put this project together. Will you be getting one too?
Holt and I both have our orders in. The prototype was a really nice jacket and I can't help but think it will be even better in the lamb. Sgt. Hack is supposed to get back with me on the wait time next week. He said (as has been posted before) that they were going with the smaller sizes first (curse you skinny people!!).
Thats good, because I ordered a small . I'm a fat guy though, just small.
I have to call back tomorrow though and double check on the sizing. I ordered afterhours so they didn't have the sizing info. I was told a couple months ago that it would be similar to the Blue Label sizing. I have a small blue label that is kind of baggy on me. If this one will be much slimmer, I think I may have to go up to a medium. If it is just slithly more slim, then I will stay with a small. Can you shed some light on this crismas? Holt?
When I ordered, it was through their afterhours line so I was asked to call back today and double check on the sizing. I did and was suggested to order a medium. I usually wear a size forty jacket and that fits roomy. Don't know if maybe this helps those who are unsure about sizing.
My personal advice (wearing a 40, also) would be to have them physically measure the jacket and see if the size works for you. Though my experience comes from getting a jacket through their clearance sale a couple years ago (which contained both old US and import made jackets), I ended up getting a medium (at their recommendation) which was HUGE, exchanging it for a small which was big, and finally being able to exchange that one for an extra small G-2 which still fits like a normal large on me. I would think that these jackets run truer to size, but if you are in doubt, have them physically measure the jacket, and if you like those specs, have them send you that very jacket.
That would be the very best way to go about it, only the jackets have not been made yet...or are not in their hands yet. I was told that we would be receiving notification a couple days before they ship. When I hear from them, I'll call and have them physically measure a jacket and see what they come up with. My fear is that since only 100 of these are being made, they may only have 20 or so in each size and if I have to change my size they may not have any more smalls left.
If you are holding back from ordering before the start of delivery, and really want one but want to wait and see what others think first, you best rethink your decision.
The move toward production was/is based on the number of orders they have in hand before the factory starts cutting. There have been a couple false starts as they thought more orders were pending based on what they had heard and/or read here. None came.
This is a COW exclusive. That's why you have seen no announcements on their webpage. It's offered to us, and us alone. If they don't get enough orders, they will not produce the jacket. period. This is an honest to gosh one time event, and they're not getting any positive feedback to proceed based on order numbers.
Last I heard, the final production number has been drastically reduced based on actual orders, but the factory has still agreed to make them if that number is met. As of Saturday, not even close to a 1/3 of that number of orders have been met, so sadly, unless folks show interest in the product, it won't be produced and all existing orders will be cancelled.
Before folks start with the fact that they're not willing to buy a 'pig in a poke', so to speak, it's no different than any other vendor to date where a prototype was shown (as was on this jacket by crisman and Holt), and orders then taken. This time, though, these are ONLY being offered to us, so the volume is WAY less than a normal run. If you don't want the jacket, you'll return the jacket and cancel the order....but without orders in hand to make the run worth while, none will be made in the first place, and that's the end of that story.
A plain, simple business decision that has to be made based on interest in the proposed product, as well as the fact they can not afford to sink production costs in a product in this financial climate that will end up sitting in inventory without a buyer. They already have quite a few Indy product jackets that fill that requirement now. They don't need another one at this time.
So, the ball's in your court if you're honestly interested in getting one of these. If the order numbers do not go up in the next couple of days, this jacket run will go the way of the dodo.
This is terrible news. I would have thought that more folks here would be interested in this jacket. To be honest, though, I don't see very many Wings fans on these boards to begin with. I don't understand it. With the amount of people having problems with Wested, be it with the product itself or with the customer service. Now, I don't own a Wested, but from all the negative comments I'm seeing here, I wonder why more people are trying some of the other vendors instead of staying with a company they are frustrated with . I hope that Wings gets the orders they need to get this thing started.
Thanks for the news Mark, hopefully this will motivate those that were on the fence about this jacket. Remember guys, if for some reason you don't like the jacket, there is always ebay. I'm sure you'd make a profit on ebay anyway.
I agree with Dave, these will be quality jackets and with the work Holt and Crismans have done these will be much better in terms of SA than other USW's.
How about a show of hands here to see where it stands?
