Man, it looks like it got distressed in transit! I notice the wrinkle on the ribbon, and the overall distressed look of the felt. Also appears you may have a long oval head. I used a reg oval to make the hat. Just a heads up in case you buy another brand of hat. Took a couple of weeks to make it there, or so it seems. Glad customs let you have it!! Fedora
Ps, looks like you need to take an eighth inch off the brim all the way around. I thought the dimensions I cut it would work for you. I was wrong.

I am proud of you VP. That is what I would have done too!! Great minds think alike. FedoraThe hat was fine after the transit, it was a bit stiff so I Dandalized it a bit. Crumpled into a ball, sat on it, stood on it, kicked it around and so on until it was soft enough. That's where the look and the wrinkle came

Trimmed the brim a bit since Steve mentioned that it would look better that way, here's an outside shot:

Thanks for the trim VP. I am NOW proud to say that I made that hat!! What a difference a brim trim makes! I can live with that one now.Trimmed the brim a bit since Steve mentioned that it would look better that way, here's an outside shot:
Just learned that beaver fur has 100,000 fur fibers per square inch, and that is one reason beaver fur is so desirable in feltmaking. Plus, it is a very stable fur to felt, unlike mink, which can NEVER be used to make a pure mink hat. Pure mink hats never existed. A mink blend hat, like the Stetson Touch of Mink, has less than 5 per cent mink content. You might say, it was a marketing ploy, but at least they did say " a touch of mink"
So if anyone ever tries to sell you a pure mink hat, the red flag should go up very quickly. Pure mink will not felt, without "pushing" or in general terms, clumping up, with no ability to ever pounce the clumps out. Marc's felter after many attempts arrived at the maximum mink content that can be used in a hat. Maybe one day, Marc will finally get me that max content mink hat in my hands!! Don't forget me old buddy. I want to own the rarest felt hat in the world, and only you have a few made for us. I promise to NEVER wear another hat, if you ever get around to making it. I would be very proud to wear that 5 grand hat!!! Fedora

Finally had the time to take pics of my AB! I placed my order with Steve in June of last year. I asked for a Raiders bash specifically the temple scene at the beginning of the movie. In December 2006, I received it and I've been using it ever since!
Here are some pics of my AB alongside my Akubra Fed Regular:
Out of the box, the AB is soft unlike the stiff Fed (I've had the Fed for a year and a half and its still a bit stiff!). Also, the AB's crown is not as tall as the Fed.
Here's a pic of yours truly wearing the AB:
This is the most good looking and comfortable hat I've ever come across and it makes me proud to say that I'm the first Malaysian AB owner!

Ken, in that particular photo, you cannot discern your hair color form the brim and it gives the illusion that the brim is wider than it really is. If you draw an imaginary line from the crown straight down to your ear, the brim is not as wide as it looks. Of you can lighten the photo enough where we can clearly see your hair and we can give a better opinion.Ken wrote:
I like my AB but I kind of think the brim might be a bit wide - what do you think?

KT, Ken, Raider, Kalkamel, and VP--those are all great looking AB's! Thanks for sharing the photos. Seeing all your great fedoras keeps up the excitement of getting that package a few months from now. Keep the photos coming!

Kalk- your AB reminded me (again) that mine has a similar inscription under the sweat ... "Ford Felt." (do a search for it, and you'll see what that is). Great looking hat!
Raider- WOW!
Ken, I agree with Rick. I think the hat looks good, but another pic where we can see your hairline against the color of the brim would definitely help determine whether or not the brim is too long.
I just got the e-mail from Steve yesterday that my Rabbit AB is on its way! WOOT!

Nice looking hat Max. You could try pressing the front of the center dent down a bit so that it looks like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/I ... 20/etu.jpg
Oh yeah and you could also try to flip the mirrored images before posting so we could get a better overall idea of the side bashes. Lookin' good anyways.
