flightsuits raider jacket

Post by Walker »

Hi Guys. I don't post much but am always reading reviews and thoughts of COW members. Thinking of getting a new jacket for Christmas. Flightsuits raider/Macgyver type jacket intrigues me. Already have Westeds and too many A-2's. Does anyone have any experience w/ the Filightsuits raider? Appreciate any input. Thanks

The Flightsuits "Raiders" jacket is NOT an Indy jacket. Similar though.

I never saw this discussed recently. Wonder how it got it's name??

My guess is it was designed before the Expedition came to fruition. It probably had the same "feel" as an Indy jacket and was designed as such. Could be wrong though. A good question is: Would they have named the Expedition "Raider" if not for this jacket?

The style displayed as the FS "Raider" has been around for many years. Different companies call it by different names. It is often referred to as a "helicopter pilot" jacket.

I recall _ once mentioned that it was sold in the old Montgomery Ward catalog. I'm sure he could tell you much more. Search the old threads. It's in there somewhere.

I've seen it in both cow and goat. To me the style looks much better in cowhide. It is a bit heavy in cow, however. If the FS version came with wool knits I would seriously consider getting one myself.

I once had the same style jacket, complete with the piping on the pockets, in khaki cloth. Sorry, no pics, the jackets is long since lost in the mists of time . . .

Well that's a drag. :? That totally ruins my sarcastic "um".
Won't you reconsider? It would help my post look more useful.

Thanks. Any pics would be appreciated. I know its not an indy jacket but i just wanted to change it up a bit for my next jacket purchase. I'd really like one of the HH Aeros but I don't have that kind of coin right now. Maybe someday.
