Olive:

or what they're calling "Buffalo Herd":

No, they're not period authentic, nor screen accurate, but they look pretty good (surplusish?), and its easy to remove the Old Navy dog tag that comes with it. The metal buckles are chemically etched with a light patina of rust, and the straps over all three main compartments actually close with a hidden press stud (snap). But the kicker for me? The price: these canvas babies are $15.00 US, and for my part, help me carry all the clobber I can't stuff in my Mark VII (@#$% textbooks
Here's the link to the Old Navy webpage featuring the bags: http://www.oldnavy.com/asp/Product.asp? ... pid=246073
I know the Boy Scout backpack from Crusade has been noted before, but, other than the removable dog tag, these make, IMHO, a pretty fine (and affordable, for those living on student loans...) and functional piece for one's ensemble, whether a student or not. Pick it apart if you will, but it works for me!

Sincere regards,
