Re: How to fix bash relaxing

Steam will solve your issue. Applying some steam to a bash that doesn't want to stay will help lock it in place. Don't go too heavy with it it can cause shrinkage and taper should it be over applied.

Re: My Garrison Raider (Garrison owners unite here!)

Spoke to David via email a few days ago. Seems his iphone is acting up a bit and it's part of how he conducts business so if your correspondence with him is delayed that's probably why. Aside from him working his real job.

They lied to you. Graham of Optimo did the hats for public enemies.

Nice borso

edit: Rather he did Depp's hat anyway.

Review as Promised

Hey guys, the following is my review of the Steele & Jones Herbert Johnson Replica Raiders hat. I hope you find it informative and any points I've missed don't hesitate to ask any questions, I'll be happy to answer to the best of my ability. I would like to preface this with I am a hatter's appr...

Re: The HJ Vintage Project

I'm in the process of writing my review of this hat (Sorry Diego it's taking so long, life has been busy. It's coming I promise!) I will say this, being the person primarily in charge of hat cleaning and refurbishment at the shop, I have now seen 3 raiders era poets come through the shop as well as ...

Re: Are these boots from Duluth trading company decent CE's?

Problem isn't finding Aldens it's that they don't make size 14 for my giant feet, afaik :( I know they aren't close, but not real sure what my options are with feet my size.

Are these boots from Duluth trading company decent CE's?

I'm 6'5" and I have size 14 feet which unfortunately means I can not get actual Aldens. Was browsing the DTC website and saw these, what do you guys think? Also I'm open to any other suggestions you guys may have for my giant feet. Thanks! http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/product/mens-6-contr...

The dimensional cut really wasn't something often seen on vintage hats. If memory serves it was done to the movie hats to help with camera angles among other things...

Re: Reblocking Hats DOWN Sizes?

You can down size hats with re-blocking depending on the felt used and how the felt was blocked originally. Of course what size the felt is and how far down you want to go. The felt that Mark uses is simple one of the best money can buy and he pre-ages/stables the felt. I think you are going to fin...

Re: how to reblock a downtowner?

Statement stands, you can do it properly without all of that. Not to say it doesn't help but it's not out of anyone's ability to do it with considerably less. For instance, if there isn't anything wrong with the brim of a hat there's no reason to mess with the flange. What do you do for a living? S...

Re: NeverWet™ Could this be the answer?

Oh yeah, we were stoked here in the shop when we saw the video. My boss still thinks it might have an application for our straws. But yeah, based on what we've read and it seems supported by the reviews it'll have no application in felt hats. We might spray down a couple wool Broners we have sitting...

Re: NeverWet™ Could this be the answer?

John, Neverwet is available already in stores. We have it sitting in the shop right now. We haven't tried it on any hats yet because we just got it and it says right on the package it dries to a milky film on fabrics/leather. Also, I feel it important to mention we don't have high hopes for this pro...

Re: Anyone else bothered by all the cowboy comments?

It's funny, when wearing other fedoras that look nothing like an Indy hat I got the Indy comments. Wearing an actual indy hat I get the cowboy comments. I just can't seem to catch a break, lol.

Anyone else bothered by all the cowboy comments?

I've been wearing fedoras in general for some time, but since wearing an indy styled fedora I get way more cowboy comments than with any other hat. maybe it just bothers me because I'm a life long city boy. What are your thoughts?

Re: Question for bendingoaks

Not to answer for John, as I know he can handle his own business. That being said, a lot of that hat's brim character comes from putting the turn in the hat, it creates the "swoop" in the brim that we're all accustomed to. The Fed already has a dimensional brim, though if memory serves it'...

Re: akubra hat pros and cons

You can certainly have Akubras rebuilt, cleaned etc. I do it on a regular basis. I work part time at the Brass Rooster here in Milwaukee as the refurbish-er/cleaner. We've taken hats that their owners feared were trash and given them new life. (I'm talking felt hats in general here, not just akubras...

Re: akubra hat pros and cons

Penman may be the exception. I've handled a few of his hats, though have not owned one myself. Their owners say they've taken anything thrown at them. I won't speak to Garrison or AB, As I've never handled either of them. Still my point remains, do I want to be out in the woods, rain, hail, dust, sw...

Re: akubra hat pros and cons

I'm new here and don't have a custom Indy hat. That being said, the Fed IV deluxe is an outstanding hat. I opted to go with it because of Akubra's renowned durability in the hatting world and I actually use it as a field hat. The girlfriend and I have recently taken up hiking and I've put nearly 20 ...
