Just a question and I'm sorry if it's covered somewhere else.
As most of us know through years of research on this site - Indy's fedora has a dimensionally cut brim. i.e. the brim has a different width on the sides vs the front.
How "traditional" is a dimensional cut to the fedora?
Is it something one would find in a lot of fedora's back in the day? Is this something I would find on a vintage hat from the 20s or 30s?
What stylistic purpose does it serve?

Re: Dimensional cut
The dimensional cut really wasn't something often seen on vintage hats. If memory serves it was done to the movie hats to help with camera angles among other things...

Re: Dimensional cut
A lot of people say it wasn't a real thing back in the day, but I have seen many photos (and old movies) that show extras and real people wearing hats with dimensional cuts as far back as the early 1930's. It's possible that the cut was used for Indy for practical reasons, but it was far from "new."
