Re: Alden Indy Boots Impressions From Owners
I am a teacher too & own a pair of 403's & a pair of 405's and although comfortable my feet do feel a bit tired at the end of the day. After a day of teaching, my entire being is tired, not just my feet! My feet are great at the end of the day... But my brain feels like it was stunk out thr...

Re: Alden Indy Boots Impressions From Owners
I wish I could post pictures of mine, but I wear them nearly every day to teach in as a college professor and they are amazingly comfortable and are of a perfect weight temperature wise. They look great and are never to warm or cold. The laces didn't last more than a year, and the sole is wearing re...

Knowing Indy, stuck down in the front of his pants. Probably picked it up before going there, thinking that it was going to be a shootout for some reason.

Re: Carrying a laptop in a Mk VII Bag
That is what I was thinking, but I am not so sure I want to have a custom one made. I was just curious if that would fit, it usually goes into my old canvas bag just fine and I have a neoprene sleeve on it to prevent nasty bangs, but was curious. Thanks.

Carrying a laptop in a Mk VII Bag
The dimensions are :
Height: 0.11-0.68 inch (0.3-1.7 cm)
Width: 11.8 inches (30 cm)
Depth: 7.56 inches (19.2 cm)
Would I need to order a special sized bag, or will my laptop fit in the bag?

MKVII Laptop Satchel from Mongoli Clothiers
I was wondering if this would feel and look original if I made one for a MacBook Air? I would get an standard reproduction but the laptop is .8" to large for the standard dimensions and then I found this one by MC and thought hey that one has padding as well. From the picture though it looks li...

Well... The time has came I guess. I have loved my Akubra Federation Delux for years but I had bashed it wrong and no matter what I do it simply does not work out and hold shape like I want it to now... So I am looking for suggestions over the next month or so to decide what I am going to do about a...

This may be a dumb question, but which model is the one that is accepted as "close enough?"

Re: Reshaping my Akubra Federation Delux
Yes it is the former crease. The burrs are little places where the felt was caught on something and it... Well just formed a very small burr. I will post pictures sometime this week if I get the chance to put camera, hat, computer together. Maybe someone would know how to fix it. I dearly love that ...

Re: Reshaping my Akubra Federation Delux
Oh I know but they are burrs, for lack of a better word, in the felt. That with the line that will not come out (maybe it will with time?) makes me think about a new hat.

Re: Reshaping my Akubra Federation Delux
I wound up using some steam. It turned out pretty good, but has a faint line where it used to be bashed. I love that hat and now I am wondering if I should try getting another one. It has been everywhere and I hate to retire it but it is developing inperfections that are from foul ups on my part whe...

It has to be partially an art form. Leather working is in all its forms.

Re: Some whips I recently finished
That is very cool. For some reason anytime I set out to do things like that it seems like I chew it up due to a lack of any sense of artistic ability. So I am not only in awe but also thankful that some folks do it, gives me something to save money for

Re: Some whips I recently finished
Amazing work. I am constantly amazed at people that can do work with their hands like that. Someday I want to get a whip but it might mean selling my soul for the money Would be well worth it though.
How long does it take to do things like that? I assume that the leather has to be cut doesn't it?

Reshaping my Akubra Federation Delux
Hello all,
I searched but I wanted some fresh input. My issue is that I have a Federation Delux that has a teardrop top on it and I want to correct it for a couple of reasons. How do I do this without damaging the hat?

Re: What I am looking for in a jacket
Bellows, yes! The reason is that I often have things I want in my jacket pocket and I have had trouble sometimes with a book or a flashlight causing a tear along a seam because a flat pocket is nearly useless for anything of any small size. Thanks LRGS.

Re: What I am looking for in a jacket
Well dang ok. I swear I am more confused as I go
This is turning into a quest just to figure out what I want, good thing it will be a month or so before I jump on it...
So what do you call it when they make a pocket with the material to make it "thicker" for a lack of a better term?

Wow, thank you for all of the replies. I missed out for a day to give finals and came back and there are a load! Re: What I am looking for in a jacket
Appologies, the comment about the crocidile is that some jackets I have seen have a very crocidile type texture instead of a smoother texture, if that makes sense. Lamb I have heard is pretty fragile though is it not? Hrm... Perhaps I should list an order to what I am looking at: 1. Durable 2. Fits ...

Re: What I am looking for in a jacket
That is part of what I was curious about. I was looking at Wested and US Wings. The jacket looks often times on screen to have a little flexability to it - most store leather jackets I have seen were very stiff and heavy even after being used for awhile... I am looking at around 300 - I want somethi...

What I am looking for in a jacket
Howdy all! First post here and I am looking for some pearls of wisdom. I have looked through the threads and honestly I think there is simply an overabundance of information. I am looking for a durable and fairly light weight (suitable for cool but not cold weather) jacket. I want it to be a tad lon...
