Re: Which film jacket is your favorite?

Problem? He's about ##lbs heavier. I chose two #'s on purpose and the first on is not a 1 or 2. He wore a 40 in 1980 and a 44 in 1988. After "Witness" he could afford filet over ground chuck. Gotta add girth. Ha--very true _, but I gotta say, I should hope only to have gained ##lbs by the...

Re: Which film jacket is your favorite?

I have to second that vote, Collectedin89. Despite its somewhat checkered background, the natural-looking distressing combined with the extra length combined with that magnificent drape (most noticeable during the shrine inspection near the beginning *drool* *slobber*) combined with smaller pockets ...

Re: Your favorite whip

Gotta be Raiders Natural. Not a big fan of tapered handles and I just dig the slightly thinner thong of the Raiders as compared to the LC. I've never handled a Jacka but based solely on looks (e.g., those hula-hoop coils, TH knot shape, too-long wrist loop) it doesn't even rate as a qualifier; just ...

Re: Shrunk Me Wested Trousers

Tragic. I feel your pain. They're fine pants. Hope you've found a taker. Just to take your mind off it a bit......I wonder if Indy made post-adventure trips to the dry cleaner's. Somehow can't quite see it. Just tossed in the trash can, I guess, and reach for a new pair from his collection all lined...

Re: Why Indy Wears His Bagstrap OVER His Jacket In Indy 4

Well, just to chime in for the minority opinion, it's bag under jacket for me all the way, both for looks and personal preference. I just hate that look on Indy, traumatizing tank incident or no traumatizing tank incident. It just makes him look like some guy dressing up as Indiana Jones. :TOH:

Re: Whip holder on web belt in CS

Fair enough. Maybe he'd had his whip and pistol confiscated by baddies one too many times and thought, "Sod it--let's switch the belt configuration around. At least I'll have a fighting chance of keeping my whip." Or maybe he was just tired of having to make that trip down to the local lea...

Re: Why Indy Wears His Bagstrap OVER His Jacket In Indy 4

_ - The 2nd-unit script supervisor? SERIOUSLY?! "Made no sense"??? By this, do you mean the strap under the jacket made no sense? THIS is how that change was first proposed? I'd always figured it was for convenience's sake for Ford, which was a feeble enough reason on its own. But this kin...

Re: Why Indy Wears His Bagstrap OVER His Jacket In Indy 4

The only reason that makes sense is if he just wears it that way now in order to take it off easier.....although seeing how he didn't seem to carry anything in it at ALL and it just hung uslessly at his side the entire movie....he might as well've left it at home.....and his gun.......and his whip....

Re: Whip holder on web belt in CS

MS Jones - Nice work on that whip holder! I believe my Raiders-style Keppler is the same high-snap type (well, strictly speaking it's a ROTLA/TOD hybrid). Its short length would also seem to make it practical for handle-in-holder, which is the method I prefer. And yes, as Noel Howard himself once me...

Re: FINALLY!!! I've found the correct color of Indy's web b

Y'know, even after years and years in this hobby I still make the naive mistake of looking at a heading like the one at the top of this thread and thinking, "What's this guy talking about? It's a WEB BELT for gosh sakes! How hard could it be?!" And then by the time I've worked my way down ...

Re: Whip holder on web belt in CS

Mike, Ronski, et al. et al. - I stand very much corrected! I'm surprised to hear the web belt method wasn't some kind of costume-department trickery (reinforced waistband or the like) and that it actually works. I imagine it helps with that gunslinger-style holster sag too. Tundrarider - I'm right w...

Whip holder on web belt in CS

Was just scanning through some CS threads and it got me thinking to something that's seriously bugged me ever since that first Comic-Con report: in CS Indy wears his whip holder on his web belt. Sacrilegious, really. It reminded me of something they might have done in the Marvel comic books--works f...

Thanks guys. I'm assuming it was reported on here then? Any threads? If so, whereabouts might I search for them? Don't know how I missed hearing about it.

Re: Crystal Skull gun belt

knibs7 - Just a bit of a sidetrack here: Where is that big shot of Ford's waist with the gunbelt worn "traditional" style from? The costume-fitting bit from the documentary on disc 1? I don't recall seeing this. The angle or whatever also makes it look like Ford's got a gut (don't know how...

Re: Which film jacket is your favorite?

ROTLA because it is simply THE jacket but . . . . . . cannot count out the TOD for the reasons Tennessee stated, especially when he's examining the shrine in the village. I salivate a bit each time I see that magnificent drape . . . . . . and I've loved the LC distressing since the first time I saw ...

Re: New Del Carpio 8' on the way

I agree with you riku1914, but I still think that with the thick hides Morgan uses for his Indy whips it's braided just a bit too tight. In comparison, my Strain has broken in beautifully--not too firm, not too loose--with about the same amount of use, and Joe Strain is no slouch when it comes to ti...

Re: So which movie is this one from?

Oh, I think all three movies' whips were flop city. That's one of the reasons I love the distress work on the whips and gear in general--those things look like they've been to #### and back and actually USED throughout his adventures. Don't look like off-the-shelf movie props at all. Now KOTCS, erm,...

Re: So which movie is this one from?

Thanks SO much for the pics, guys! Always love having a look at screen-used whips. In fact just last night I was trolling through some old e-mail pics of Doc Riviere's screen-used LC whip (courtesy of Whiskyman). "Wet noodle"--yes you nailed it there, Nick! I too dig that look but didn't r...

Re: New Del Carpio 8' on the way

Excellent choice with the Bernardo and I think you'll also find that the 8' length is ideal. As you know by now, his whips are beautifully made and second-to-none for screen accuracy. I also have a Bernardo 8-footer and it's by far my most-used whip. They break in VERY nicely--remain firm off the ha...
