Re: STEELE & JONES '38

Thanks for the kind comments. I've been wearing the jacket almost literally non-stop since it arrived last week and it is beginning to loosen up. This is just how horse is, it needs work :) Although I must stress that compared to "normal" thickness horsehide this stuff IS soft and IS thin...

Re: STEELE & JONES '38

My LC "tank" jacket has arrived, in the regular horsehide ... Some photos below. It was ordered without distressing as I'm not a fan of the LC "stripes" that I personally think look unnatural. I've tried to take some of the shine out of the leather with fine sandpaper, accidenta...

Suddenly, my decision to go with S & J instead of the Legacy Hero seems like a really sound decision.... Sorry you had that experience. Wested has the opportunity to be a real partner with their clientele as there are few cosplay fanbases as loyal/dedicated as this one. Instead, they make poor d...

Alternative knife (close enough)

I did a quick (but not exhaustive) search and didn't see this listed anywhere, so apologies if someone else brought it up. I was looking for an alternative to the Linder pocketknife. This one looks pretty close and is about half the cost- https://www.mercurycut.it/en/product/506/hunting_knife_-_1_bl...

Re: US Wings Indy jacket back length

I don't think so. I live about 30 minutes from the US Wings store and I was in there about three weeks ago trying on their jackets. The jackets seem really well made and the cape buffalo one is so nice that I ended up buying one. I knew it was longer and not screen accurate, but I thought I'd see ho...

Question about Wested

Hey everyone! I bought a Raiders goat from them probably 15 years ago and I love it. At the time when I bought it, the general consensus was that they were a great company to buy from. I stepped away from the hobby for a while and now that I am back, it seems they have fallen out of favor somewhat. ...

Re: Raiders Boots

I recently bought a pair of 403s. The color appealed to me more than the 405s. These boots are built like tanks so my recommendation is to go with whichever one is more appealing to you and don't worry about whether one is more durable than the other. I imagine any difference in durability is margin...

He bought it where all the cool kids pick up their MK VII reproductions, from Todd's Costumes. He liked the price and the screen accuracy.

Re: The wait for the first fedora

Whoa, Hatsdirect ships crazy fast! I received the hat within 7 days of ordering. Now to pour over the forums to find out how to shape it. Pics will posted once I get it somewhat shaped. I will say that the felt is really nice and I only ordered the Fed regular. I can only imagine how the deluxe feels.

The wait for the first fedora

So I ordered a Federation regular yesterday. I know it isn't a top of the line AB or a custom made Penman, but it is a huge deal for me. I've wanted a fedora for 29 years, since seeing Raiders when I was six. I figure if I have a good experience with it, I will order a custom hat down the line. I am...

Hat bashing instructions

I was looking in the fedora links in order to educate myself on what type of hat I should get and whatnot. There are links there that I assume used to take you to pages which offered instruction on how to give a hat the Raiders look. The pages seem to be gone now. I tried multiple items in the searc...

Lol, I was super excited about the possibilities that were presented here for a Fed IV, but man, it looks so daunting to get it to look like that. It's intimidating.

They all look fantastic though. Great job everyone! :#:
