How did Indy aquire his MK VII?

Post by Bruce Wayne »

We know he got his fedora from the character Fedora, but what about his bag? I know it didn't exist during the first trilogy, but how do you think he came about getting it?

Thanx!!!

It was an archeological dig when he was a young man. He slipped down a hole, sliding extremely fast in the direction of the Earth's rotation. There, he encountered a wounded soldier named John Carter in a cave. Carter warned him of the dangers of the Nazi party, and Mars, before dying. Ever the archeologist, Indy felt he needed to take a "relic" of this place he had found, so it made sense to take the gas mask, as it was already in a bag!

Indy retraced his steps, until he lost his footing again - this time sliding against the rotation of the planet and returning to his original dig. Naturally, nobody believed his story, especially Abner, who was looking for an excuse to get Indy away from his daughter. Abner threw the mask into the camp fire in a rage, handed the empty bag to Indy, and told him to try filling it with REAL relics!

Thank you for reading "3-minute Literature" with Chewbacca Jones. :TOH:

It was leftover from using the actual gas mask in one of his first adventures, "Indiana Jones and the Campfire Beans of Doom"

I like Chewie's explanation best. Prop shopping? What do you think this is, anyway, a movie? ;)

I'm waiting for the Cliff's Notes version. That was too complicated to wrap my brain around this early in the morning. #-o

"So, uh, what you have here is a classic example of a bag that was originally used by postmen in World War Two. They were green so it would camouflage the mail inside and keep it hidden from enemy mail thieves. It's a little known fact that Indy was a postman before he became an archaeologist, so he probably picked up one of these bags during his time in the service."

Mr Wayne..if you will recall, in the Last Crusade intro, Fedora had a leather map case which most likely inspired Indy as did Fedora`s jacket and and overall "look".

He bought it where all the cool kids pick up their MK VII reproductions, from Todd's Costumes. He liked the price and the screen accuracy.

The only possible examination is that somehow he picked up the prototype bag of the Mk VII before they were in general production and for some reason they were already working on a prototype for that bag at least by 1935......

personally, I like Cliff the mailman's idea best. I love that guy, esepcially cause he was in Empire strikes back AND Superman I and II

History...why does it always have to be history? Chemical warfare was a new type of strategy by WWI, and the allies employed countermeasures in an effort to thwart its effects:

If Indy was in WWI.... :-k .... :P

I would go with the time travel theory, definitely.

The Fourth Doctor wore a fedora, too. Coincidence? :-k

Perhaps Indy was such a trendsetter that the British Army saw his cool bag and based their model on his 'curiosity'
