*blows layer of dust off thread* Well, I've been looking for a non-brown "Indy"-ish lid. I settled on an Akubra Fed IV in carbon grey. I apoligize foor the not-so-great quality pics, as they were taken via cell phone camera. http://i.imgur.com/A4UCsQ1l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Xmlvw3vl.jpg&...

Swain Adeney Brigg SHOP CLOSED
Hi guys, I went down St James Street the other day and it seems Swain have moved location as the whole shop is empty and closed down. I will do my best to get a photo of the map of the new location and post it here as soon as I can. So sad, I once met Richard Swales in there back in 2001 when HJ wer...

Any further progress IH? Even my Fed 4 Deluxe is made from felt too tough to give it that SoC look. I've been beating the heck out of it for months now and it always returns to shape like memory plastic.
I also have a Penman Raiders but it'll only hold a Raven Bar crease.

Many people i've spoken to refuse to believe Indy had a bow on his hat. It doesn't fit their pre-conceived idea of what cowboy hat should look like. They obviously haven't cared enough about the subject to know what a fedora is. I had a very similar comment. Someone said "yeah but i doubt Indy ...

I don't think its just the wide brim that makes people think its a cowboy hat - its the colour brown. No one has ever made the cowboy comment about my grey (moonstone) Akubra. Snapbrim, I can't criticize you for not liking the hat, because it's all just a matter of opinion, but I disagree with you on the hat being a trilby. All Akubras have that little wire. I always pull it out through the join in the back. Once you get rid of that wire the hat becomes so soft it feels infinitely more comfortable. Plus you can really beat the crop out of it without fear of buckling. Get rid of that wire, its an uncomfortable nuisance.

Did you put a turn in the hat? It appears not. The turn always helps the brim stop going flat. Also if you really want to distress it, beating it up only softens the felt. Its better to scrunch it up in the hands and don't immediately straighten out the creases. Don't worry, it can take it. The Heri...
