PB

Thanks. I have a PB Custum that I used to wear all the time. The ribbon fell off about two years ago and I never got around to getting it fixed. Anyway, I think I may be one of those people who are really attached to the Federation. Thanks for the feed back. I will try to treat my PBBM with great ca...

Battle Tested PBBM

Hey All! I was putting my hats away last night. When I got to my Federation I was admiring its many battle scars. Then, I came upon my PBBM. I know that this is a dress hat--at least that is when I wear it. But, I was wondering if anyone had any field experience with this hat. Does it hold up? Looki...

The Hat

I really noticed the durability of the Fed as well. I saw a lot of people in Tilleys and other canvas hats. But, after a day in Yunnan during the rainy season those hats looked like limp wash cloths. The picture of me with the short Yi shaman (a Bimo) shows my Fed after a hike in the driving rain. I...

Fed Reflections

I know we spend a great deal of time talking about which fedora is best for this or for that. I’ve been thinking about the fedora in general lately and have a few reflections of my old friend the Akubra Federation. Last summer, I received a Fulbright grant to study religion in China. I got pretty ex...

Hey all!! If this picture link works, this is me and the Target Eddie Bauer bag. Like I said, it is a real carry all. There are three zipper compartments: one main one that will hold a host of items, a smaller under the flap pocket that will hold pens, cards and a digital camera, and a flap pocket t...

Another Bag

Hey! I have a suggestion for another non-indy indy bag. Before I went to China on my Fulbright this summer, I bought a shoulder bag at Target made by Eddie Bauer. I bought because it was slightly larger than an MK7 and had a zipper over the main compartment. It can hold a legal pad, toilet paper (a ...

Need Help From England Pals!

I will be in London at the beginning of August before heading to Oxford for a conference. I was wondering if any of you know how far it is from the British Museum to St. James and the famous hattery? I will be staying across from the museum and was curious if it was walking distance or should I take...

Jewish Mythology

Remeber--Jewish "mythology" never says that the proto-Hebrews built the pyramids. Exodus 1:11--"They built supply cities, Pithom and Rameses." These cities were in the Delta area.

I deal with this all the time with my students.

Oh well

I agree with most people here--don't sweat it. I remember a post here several years ago about hat comments and that poster made the point that a fedora is no more strange than wearing a sun visor upside down and backwards. Remember, you also get good comments as well. Yesterday after class, a studen...

Pockets

If you have the time, check out the scene in Raiders where Indy stumbles around the bar looking for Belloq. If you look carefully, you can see the outline of his glasses in his shirt pocket.

As for his wobbly gut, ewe.
