I just flat out do not like tapered hats. Just my opinion. I have the Akubra Adventurer which is made from a tapered block (bought it before I knew what taper even was), and I put a wider top crease in it (which is not screen accurate) to avoid taper. The straight on look is more important to me, bu...

A question on top of the question -- When do you stop wearing your fedora? I live in NJ, and those really hot days are fast approaching. Do you guys put your lids away for the summer? I mean, if it's 95 degrees out, are you sporting your hat? Last summer I put mine away, but this summer I am not su...

Please don't be insulted, but IMO that hat does look too high on you. I'm not insulted at all. Do you have any suggestions how I can fix it? Is it a style thing (as far as the wrong bash for my face?)? Sorry, I don't. I am not one of the experts here, just a NOOB. Just MY opinion, and you seem to b...

I also sport the Adventurer. I thought it was perfect until I found this site. Curses, another addiction (I have many -- let's NOT go there). Once I found out that Akubra made this hat from a tapered block, I've been a little disappointed in it. It is rugged, durable, and quality built; but just can...

Do You Really?
My question to you (with a poll) is:
Do you really take your hat off when entering a building?
I know this is old school proper etiquette; but in todays world, is it really necessary? I mean, I know that I'm supposed to tip my hat to a lady too, right?

Colored shirts poll (fedora related)
I am wondering what you guys feel about different color shirts with your brown fedora. I wear dress shirts of all colors to work, and wear my fedora every day. I don't wear it all day continuously, but it comes off and on throughout the day as I go outside. Anyway, I started this poll to see what yo...

Taper: A sloping of the crown from bottom to top. _ / \_ Taper can happen when a hat gets wet and/or shrinkage occurs. Some hats are designed with taper. The Raiders hat is not supposed to have any taper. I do not notice any taper in the Adventurer, but do believe you about the block. Interesting...

Interesting hat etiquette I found: Hats can be worn to theaters or concerts, but people should remove them if they are blocking anyone's view. (IE Indy 4!) Hats are removed when inside, except for places that are akin to public streets, like lobbies, corridors, and crowded elevators (non-residential...

My Adventurer crown sits at 5.35" with a tiny teardrop top. Any taller just does not look right on me, but it looks like 5.5" is very possible from it.

I voted 'No' because that is the answer today. Ask me the same question last year, and it would've been a 'yes'.
