leather care question

My wife just surprised me with a beautiful Italian lamb skin sports jacket. It's saddle tan in color and if it were any softer it would be illegal to wear. What would be the best way to care for it? I use Picards for my whips but can't see myself coating the jacket with that. Is there a spray produc...

Below is the reply from Pecards. I'll go back to the store and recheck the product. Mr. Zeichner, Red Wing has a Mink Dressing that we don't manufacture for them. Their 6oz tub of dressing that is yellowish in appearance is the one that we do make for them. It is identical to our Classic Leather Dre...

Leather dressing

In a preveous post someone said that Red Wing shoe co. carries Pecards leather dressing under their own lable. I found the product at a local store and asked the owner what the contents were. He checked his catalog and said it contained mink oil. Isn't that a no no for a whip?I just wanted to check ...

Which 6 whips?

Here is a question for a lazy Sunday morning. If you had to limit your whip collection, or could only buy 6 whips, what would you get. I'd like to know what types(bull, snake Stock), lengths and makers. Lets limit cost ot a total of no more than $2500-$3000. Another way of asking the question is wha...

Leather care question

I've noticed that many of the whip makers sell or advise the use of Pecards leather products for their whips. However when I looked at Western Stage Props web page they carry many of these whips but only sell Fiebing's leather care products. Is there a significant difference? I have no experence wit...

Snake whip questions

For the next whip in my collection I was thinking about a snake whip. I know many feel that they are not as useful as a bullwhip, but I'd like one in my collection. To save some money I was thinking about Cowhide 12 plait 8'. Are there any building standards for Snake whips? I was looking at Bernie ...

Introduction/Comment

I was just notified that my account has been activated and I may now participate. My name is Alan Zeichner and I live in Novato, Calif. While I am not an Indy gear collector I do love the art of whip cracking and whip making(I'd love to learn how). My only connection to the Indiana Jones, is the fac...
