Try Gayle Nemeth (the Aussiewhipmaker) I understand that she has some decent whipmaking kits as well as on-line information.

Hey Alan,

Mike Murphy sells a kangaroo whip kit on his site: http://www.murphywhips.com/MW03G001BullwhipKit.html. It's not made by him, but someone he's known for years.

Robert Duke also was selling both cowhide & kangaroo hide kits on his site some time ago: http://www.dukewhips.com/whipmaking.html. Check with him to see if he's still selling them. Hope this helps.

Steve.

Hey Alan,

I purchased a stockwhip whip kit sometime ago from whipmaker Peter Jack in New Zealand, and it was extremely well put together...well actually, you'll have to put it together, but you get the idea :)

With this kit you can make a 4 plait latigo (cowhide) stockwhip (a stockman's whip as it's called there) 5'4" - 6' long. Final length is up to you. I braided mine to 5' 10".

Everything you'll need is included in the kit, and the best thing thing of all is that it comes with a video in which Peter guides you step by step through the whole process.

I recommend it highly. He has some kits ready to ship. Here's the link: scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Bernardo

Here's a couple of pics of it so you can have an idea of the what the finished whip looks like .

Even though the thong is 4 plait latigo, the braided hand part is 8 plait kangaroo. I find this enhances the looks of the handle.

Amazing what you can find here if you look hard enough. Was thinking bout getting a kit but not sure where to look. Lo and behold plenty to choose from. Thanks COW:wink:
