Well, I've got my bags from Indy Magnoli and I have to say they surpass my expectations and then some! I've previously only owned the WPG replica in green and tan, but both of those are now well worn out. Compared to those, Indy Magnoli's Mk VII is slightly bigger, made of a more durable canvas, has...

Re: horsehide sourcing

So, for me, this begs a couple of questions: 1) Are other leather clothing/apparel manufacturers experiencing difficulty sourcing quality horsehides? 2) Is the problem simply accessibility, or procuring higher grade quality for more cost-effective pricing? It seems horsehide is somewhat accessible ...

Two major differences

There are two major differences (to me) between the FlightSuits (now Gibson & Barnes) Expedition and Wested's Indy: no leather facings and only a Dacron twill lining in the Expedition. Those didn't stop me from getting an FS, but they do make me want to order a Wested (when the authentic horsehi...

Re: these gloves are SUPERB!

Greetings! I recently joined and am really enjoying reading through the various threads!! I ordered a couple pairs of these gloves as work gloves - one for me and the other for my husband - oh my - these gloves absolutely ROCK!!! The horsehide leather is supple yet strong, and oddly enough quite lo...

don't mean to hijack the thread....but does anyone know where I could find really good brown work gloves? :? Kind of depends on what you consider "good" work gloves. For lightest weight, you can't beat the kangaroo Geier gloves from David Morgan. They also have excellent abrasion resistan...

They do look nice - are you thinking we should try to build up an order of 20 or more so everyone gets a discount? Or just buy them ourselves individually? Ken Yes, I was thinking if we got a bigger order together we could all save on both the gloves and the shipping cost. I'll be buying a pair eit...

Aero Cream Horsehide Gloves

I posted a query for people interested in Aero's cream horsehide work gloves in the General Gear forum, but wanted to give a "heads up" for those of you who might only read the Leather Jacket forum. Given the intense interest in Horsehide Westeds, perhaps these gloves are the perfect acces...

Aero Cream Horsehide Gloves

While browsing the Aero Leather website, i came across their cream horsehide work gloves. These look like a pretty good substitute for the Wells Lamont gloves. Horsehide is an excellent leather as evidenced by the demand for horsehide jackets from Wested. http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/webapp/ae...

Welcome Adventure Lad! That is a very sweet jacket. Would you say the horsehide was thicker than the other hides Wested offers?

Those Aero jackets are real nice, especially the buffalo, but we both know from personal experience how much work it is to break in that tough hide. Doesn't really deter me though, and I continue to admire your russet buffalo 'Californian,' though I also like the 'cossack' style. That Aero Californ...

Great pictures! The leather looks very nice and smooth, almost like horsehide. Too bad about the padding, but the construction seems good, like Wested they even put in leather facings to prevent liner zipper snag (my Flightsuits doesn't have that feature, although it is on some of their other jacket...

I would think it depends more on how you wear the jacket and what the lining material is. If you have wear the jacket right up against the back of the neck and have a "grippy" lining like cotton, then the extra inch probably won't make a difference. However, if you have a smooth lining lik...

Flathead, very interesting post, but it is hard to imagine that film costumers (such as Wested) would make less durable jackets than "mil-spec". While Aero, FS, US Wings, Eastmans, etc may make their jackets to mil-spec or better, they are all large companies who cater primarily to folks w...

Hmm, very existential! I personally think that the costumers figured that Indy would have had quite a few "adventures" between TOD and LC that would have put some "miles' on the jacket, hence LC being the most aged looking. Of course, using that logic, his Wested will be rags by Indy ...

Impulse buy observation

I scored an FS Expedition in Seal Brown recently that is a tad too big, but it does give me an opportunity finally to see this beauty in person. Hey PWD, The A-2 is a classic design and with the knit cuffs and waistband an excellent choice for winter wear. I haven't found my A-2 to be a problem without the action back. Some comments from Jerry: * The leather is very different to all the other Wested leathers. It has an almost wax-like finish. * The leather looks very tough. Very suitable for the Indy cut of jacket. Jerry said I'd see the jacket in about three days (!!!) so, man, I can can hardly think straight ri...

Hi Everyone, I'm new to COW, but have been visiting Indygear for some time. I've got my WPG MkVII bag, but now am shopping for THE jacket.
