A New Vintage Hat Ad...

Post by Indy Magnoli »

I had this idea to make a vintage style hat advertisement based on our favourite lid:

Let me know what you think.

Nice! You look like one guy and Harrison looks like the other! Maybe prices will drop, after the "war", and you can get this in the November 2036 issue of LIFE.

Could you make a version of that Poster for The Akubra Federation Deluxe?

Looks great! Wonder what it would look like if all the drawings - guys, aeroplane and crest - were made in monochrome?

Excellent! Substitute Fedora's logo and crest and it could be issued as or with an 'certificate of authenticity' by Fedora!

Thanks for all the kind words; I'm hoping to do a run of vintage-style ads for various gear pieces... I'll keep you all informed. RF, I'll look into doing an Akubra one for you. ;) And... Fedora, if you'd like to modify this for your new line or want me to come up with something new, PM me and we'll talk about it....

Kind regards,
Indy

Oh... and here is a BW version:

Lookin' good!
Somehow, the b/w ad looks even more like something that could be found in the magazines of yesteryear... :D

It all depends on whether HJ was paying for an interior or back-page ad. ;)

Wow! Very nice IM!

I like the color version better, most ads in magazines like LIFE were color cause they were painted, I think. Nonetheless, I'm VERY impressed! :)

Can you post a hi-res printable one? [-o<

That would make one fancy book mark! :D

I talked to Ron over at HatsDirect, and he's given me his blessings to make a Akubra version of this ad. And he'll be sending me some vintage Akubra ads to give me some ideas! I'll keep you posted...

Kind regards,
Indy

No offense, but if he posts a hi-res version, why would he bother selling them through Cafe Press once everybody who can access this can print their own?

Heeheehee...or it's just to charge the folks who HAVE a printer. "If you PROMISE not to print this, I'll let you have it for free." :)

EDIT: Actually, I didn't look at the Cafe Press listing closely...it might be an oversized copy, probably professional quality, maybe even on posterboard? Okay, I'll go look...

EDIT: Yup, it's oversized, 11x17. Very few people can print that, so maybe just sharing a low-res image wouldn't be a big deal. Still can't see giving away the hi-res if he went to the trouble to put it out on Cafe Press, though.

Probably easier if we just wait until Indy Magnoli checks back in, though, eh? ;)

If you do post a big version, post it about the same size as the Chachapoyan map. http://koti.mbnet.fi/vpr/indy/naytakuva ... cs/map.jpg

Yep, and some don't like to deal with most US shipping and possible customs for 1 poster
