OK, I'm sorry, I've tired to find it by trawling through the threads, but I can't
Can someone post the pic of
Indy going into the
Well of Souls, which gives a straight down view on the top of his Fedora please
Or point me in the direction of the thread it's posted in
Thanks in advance!

It's not the Well of the Souls, but does this help?:

Check out the front point of the centre bash in Dakota's last picture - that thing is a total arrowhead!

Those pics are great
Dakota Thanks!
Yep, that pinch at the front of the
Raiders fedora looks really tight
Canyon, thanks, but the one I'm thinking of was posted by someone here in another thread to support their point about the
Raiders fedora
not having a dimensional brim cut & obviously it showed the top bash quite well
It's of Indy as he is rappelling down the rope into the
Well of Souls from the dig site openning & he's looking down, so the top of the fedora is straight on to the camera.
Still, those pics posted show just about all I need
Thanks people!

It just cheeses me off at how perfect that fedora is after "Everything" he's gone through.

What cheeses
me off is that I can't get
my center dent to look like that without the hat tapering, and then if I do get it, I can't wear the hat where I want it without my head pushing it back up to where I've got it where it is now!!! Argh!
Oh, nice pictures, too...

Me too. I just turned my hat, btw. Looks much cooler.

I think Harrison is seen in the first 2 shots from above of the lowering into Well Of Souls, and then a stunt double in the last one from above- the hat changes.

I doubt it, being lowered down isn't a very strenuating stunt, and Harrison was famous on set for nearly putting stuntmen out of their job by his insistance to do all but the most dangerous stunts. :junior: -IJ

Yeah, Harrison is being lowered, he's doing the stunt, but the hat changes dramaticly in the last shot from above. ..hey Langpuss- Widescreen DVD grabs show up on this forum compressed side to side?

I'm not a huge fan of the turn... and I don't know how my hat would turn out if I unbashed it - might have a crease from my pinch. Do you think we can't get that center dent because our crowns aren't high enough? You've got a Fed, right VP?

Hey Shane,
i got caught in a typhoon here in Taiwan yesterday and played around with the bash a little, and if u just spray bottle it a litle and sort of pinch the center dent from the inside of the hat, I sorta got that effect.
I MISS THE STATES!!!!!!

But then when you wear your hat, do you have to wear it closer to the top of your head than your ears, so that the top of your head doesn't push the dent out?
Glad you made it through the typhoon okay! Hurricane Charley tore up Florida pretty badly.

Going by those pics(if you can trust them) the dimensional cut is obvious, and that ain't no regular oval hat. At least a long oval. I still can't see Swales' trademark transition on the dimensional cut. Of course, I am in need of a new pair of reading glasses. Fedora

This just illistrates why I'm such a huge fan of seeing Akubra's worn to death then resurected by a good reblocking.

I could probably get that dent then by sending to somebody like Art for a reblock?

Art made my center dent a bit shallow to maintain the crown height and the dimentions of the rest of the fedora. I don't think there's anything Art can't do, though if you send him pics of what you're looking for.

Sorry to drag my old thread up, but I didn't want to take Agent5's Wested Raiders jacket sticky threat off topic by highlighting this there...
This is another great shot of the
Raiders crown bash & how DEEP it is!
(BTW I've changed the thread title to make it easier for someone to find this info
)

Wouldn't the crown on the Raiders hat have to be pretty tall for it not to taper with that deep of a dent in the top.
I tried that with my hat and it looked alright but when I went to put it on the inside of the crown was pushing onto the top of my head and I couldn't pull that hat down or the bash would pop back out.
I did notice one other thing about the "look" we are all trying to get. When I put my hat on and push in the sides with my fingers the crown takes the shape of his from all sides. It's like I'd have to place duck tape or something on the inside to get the sides of the hat to stick to my head so I could achieve the right "look".

Hey tone, thanks for posting these pics for me. I was thinking that just maybe the front of your top center dent is a little to low ( the Y of you humps) . Don't know anyway better to explain it.

What a dummy I am. Those pics are distorted, and I tend to forget that. Fedora

Indiana_Tone wrote:Thanks Jpenman! I just took these two. Have had the hat on for about five hours since that last set. As far as the top dent, I almost never mess with it so it's pretty consistent with the first ones. Here's the front view, though it's difficult to get a sense of the "deep bash" theory from this angle.
Does the AB come prebashed? I was considering the hat and I don't know how confident I would be messing around with such a nice hat. e.g. bashing and shaping the hat myself. I was curious how you received it from Steve.

Indiana_Tone wrote:Ransom,
Fedora will bash your A/B in any style you like when you order. That comes with the purchase.
I ordered mine open-crowned and bashed it myself. There are many excellent tutorials here for bashing a hat.
Yeah, just the same I'd prefer someone experienced do it.. It's an expensive hat and no matter how easy everyone says it is I still find myself a little apprehensive with 200 plus dollar item I know so little about from personal experience.
Thanks for the info however
