One dollar shirt

How's this for only paying a buck?

http://public.fotki.com/binkmeisterRick ... shirt.html

I found it in a local vintage clothing store. 100% cotton and feels great. My guess is that it's from the 50s or earlier. The grade of material doesn't feel like anything made today. The only down side is that it's missing the top collar button and one of the shoulder buttons is cracked. But for one U.S. dollar plus local sales tax, I'm not complaining! :D

Wow...fantastic find. Looks pretty Indy-ish to me, and as you said, for a dollar, it could be purple with 64 pockets all over it. Who cares?!

Peace,

Someone beat me to the purple shirt with 64 pockets, so I got this one instead.

I think it's more an Indy shirt than the typical safari-styled shirts just because of the probable age of this garment. Indy would've been alive to wear it! :D

Thanks! I kind of feel like the Indiana Jones of gear finding lately in that I found a high quality Beaver Blend hat for 4 bucks in a Goodwill, which I turned into an Indy-style lid. (See the fedora forum under "makeover.")Then I found this shirt for a buck. Then I eyed a Smith & Wesson Brazilian revolver with clips and all for extremely cheap (which I'm trying so hard to scrape the cash up for)...

It's like going on my own "archeological" expedition!

bink,

Don't tell me it's just your size, too.

That shirt looks very much like one of the Khaki French Army Shirts. Are there any stamps in it at all ?

Okay, I won't tell you it's just my size, but it does, in fact fit perfectly. Just like the Goodwill hat is my size. :P

As far as being a French shirt, the English printing tells me "non." My initial thought is that it is a military shirt, but I can't find any stamps anywhere on it, other than the tag which tells me it's cotton. I'll have to give it a good look over again. If I find anything on it, I'll let you know.

Good find Bink. The French shirts usually have a number stamped below the collar on the inside. You shirt looks very similiar.

I'm not sure if you guys have ever looked at the British section of the What Price Glory page, but Jerry Lee's khaki desert shirts also make nice adventure wear.

Do they cost a buck?

I just checked when I went home over lunch and I can tell there was an additional label under the collar at one time, but it is no longer there. I still think it may be a military shirt because the pockets, collar, and cuffs are nicely starched...
