Hi all, been a long while since I've been on. I'm looking to upgrade my bullwhip. I have an 8foot that I bought years ago in trade for another whip that I had but now I'm looking to upgrade a bit. Who sells a decent whip for a decent price. around 200 or 300 .
thanks
George

Re: Looking for a decent bullwhip
Hi, if you are looking for an proper Indy whip then in that budget you can get a great nylon whip but not great leather whip unless it's cowhide but they are pretty rare to get.
Kangaroo hide whips are rather pricey unfortunately due to the hide cost and skill needed to craft the whip.
So to sum up - get a nylon whip in that budget or save up for a decent roohide bullwhip (500 bucks + I'm afraid).

On the slim chance you are located in the EU, I have a roo hide one made by me in the Cairo Bazaar. I am just a hobbyist not a pro maker or anything, but it is much cheaper than what you'll find elsewhere.
Otherwise I would definitely look at Magnoli's whips, they are close to your budget, look the part and the deluxe version is suitable for cracking.
Thirdly, as Tomek mentioned, nylon would be the way to go.
Cheers,
Bear

For a nylon whip, I've heard great things about Sword Guy Builds Economy Indy whip. https://www.swordguybuilds.com/all-mode ... B%20shop. You can get one for 245 USD. Keep in mind I've not owned one myself, but I have heard they are quite nice.
To second bearbeast, Indy Magnoli sells a few whips that are in your budget. He is offering a roo hide whip that you can pre-order at this point. https://www.magnoliclothiers.com/produc ... rrency=USD

That's a great price on Magnoli's whip, I thought the Deluxe cost more. And it looks really good... Lots of whips for that price.

Yup, I think I made pretty much every leather gear item Indy has, except the boots. Shoemaking is an entirely different skill, which I've yet to tackle. I made some shirts and pants in the past too, as well as a bunch of props.
On my DIY wish list I still have: making a leather jacket, boots and making a hat, but I don't plan on trying too soon, unless I get a huge bout of motivation.
Here is a pic https://i.imgur.com/8unCvnS.jpeg of some of my Indy whips. And here's one I made last year, a CS replica: https://i.imgur.com/2KHAwoP.jpeg
I used to make paracord whips before, but once I started working with leather I really enjoyed it much more.

Re: Looking for a decent bullwhip
Thank you very much! Yes, most of them are 12 plait. The one with the very wide strands is 8 plait, as is the second to smallest one, with the long handle. As for screen accuracy, I think for a lot of connoisseurs they are far from the correct whips, but as far as I am concerned they are SA enough.Jonesy Jr. wrote: ↑Tue Mar 04, 2025 5:12 amWoah those are amazing.
