B3 jacket for someone with short arms

Post by SFGiant »

To make this Indy related I would have to say it's crazy to think he'd just be wearing a thin lambskin jacket in the snow. I think he'd have worn a B3.

With that being said, Wested has some good prices on B3s and I've always wanted one. But their sizing charts for sleeves and other measurements are all over the place. Am I out of luck if I have 23.5" sleeve length and they list like 26-27" sleeves? One was even 28".

I'm not sure where to get a good custom one if so.

The price is fair indeed. And color options too!

As for the sleeves I think that any seamstress should be able to shorten the sleeves.

What about the sheepskin shearling cuffs though? Can they add just that somehow?

But this is what really doesn't make sense, check out the size chart on this jacket:

https://wested.com/products/pilot-raf-b ... 2cfb&_ss=r

23.5" sleeves on size large

Then on this one

https://wested.com/products/new-in-b3-s ... 2cfb&_ss=r

26.5" sleeves... AND 30" back?

These sizes aren't matching the pictures I think..

Then there is this one

https://wested.com/products/mens-belted ... 2cfb&_ss=r

with a whopping 28" sleeve length

:anxious: this may be a mistake. I don't know the cut of the jackets, maybe one has dropped shoulders and the shoulder line is lower than true shoulder line and the sleeves are shorter then.

I'd contact Weed to be sure.

On the one with 23.5” they did concfirm it’s quite short. Hard to be confident though.

Use caution when having leather altered. It takes special skill and experience for a tailor/seamstress to work with leather. It is very different than working with fabric. It can be done, but has to be by someone who specializes in leather.

Well if you're talking about the plain cuff ones, no zipper or anything, just roll it up. That's all the cuff is anyway is a simple roll over, so just roll it over again. That's what I've always done.

Just to reply to the OP, you don't really wear leather jackets for warmth in real cold, as they're more of a wind break in that sort of scenario, so Indy wearing a lambskin in snow (what snow are we even talking about? Mystery of the Blues snow? Great Circle snow? Nepal in Raiders?), wouldn't be unusual. What he had layered underneath it, plus thermal underwear, would be what was keeping him warm :whip:
